Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation follows a 34-year-old shut-in who had been bullied and mistreated his entire life after a fatal bus accident sees him reincarnated in a fantasy world with his memories of his previous life intact. In his new life as Rudeus Greyrat, he learns quickly and soon discovers that he has immense magical talent, leading to his tutelage under a mage named Roxy Migurdia.

While it seems that he has hit the jackpot in his current incarnation, various developments both within his family and in the world beyond it come to wreck the very peace he once thought he had. Season 2 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is set sometime after a mysterious magical calamity rips across the world, leaving countless dead or missing, including Rudeus's mother.

The Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation anime series is based on the original light novel written by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Shirotaka. The first season aired in two parts, the first of which ran for 11 episodes from January to March 2021, and the second for 12 episodes from October to December of the same year. Both parts of the 23-episode first season were produced by Studio Bind, with direction from Manabu Okamoto, who directed a few episodes of the 2018 mecha anime series, Darling in the FranXX.

The new trailer revealed the opening and ending theme songs for Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2, with the former being "spiral" performed by LONGMAN and the latter, "Musubime" performed by Yuiko Ohara. The series has also announced the cast members who will be bringing life to six new characters, including Sara, played by Haruka Shiraishi (Asirpa, Golden Kamuy) and Suzanne, played by Yu Kobayashi (Sasha, Attack on Titan). Crunchyroll has both parts of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 1 available on their streaming service, with the second season to be simulcast on the platform from its July 2 premiere.
