The official KonoSuba Twitter account revealed the new trailer on Friday and also confirmed that the upcoming series can be expected to broadcast sometime in 2023. The series, which is based on the spin-off created by Natsume Akatsuki and Masahito Watari, will be directed by Kaguya-sama: Love is War! episode director Yujiro Abe, while the director of the main KonoSuba series, Takaomi Kanasaki, will supervise.

Returning staff members also include Makoto Uezu, who will take on the role of series composer, while the main series' character designer, Koichi Kikuta, will be filling in the same capacity he did for the main series in KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!. The series will be produced by Studio Drive.

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! is set a full year prior to the events of the main series, long before Megumin meets Kazuma and the rest of the series' eccentric cast. Megumin, the so-called "Greatest Genius of the Crimson Magic Clan", has dedicated her life to learning explosion magic after witnessing the sheer destructive, and protective potential of the "ultimate offensive magic". One day, while Megumin is hard at work, her little sister, Komekko, heads out to the woods and stumbles upon a black kitten. What Komekko does not realize is that this strange kitten happens to be part of the key to unsealing the tomb of a certain Dark God...

The explosive first trailer comes months after the announcement of the adaptation of the KonoSuba spin-off light novels and the third season of KonoSuba, which was announced to be in the works over a year ago. A purported release window has yet to be revealed for the flagship series; however, fans will be more than happy with the franchise's recent developments and look forward to 2023.
