Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead follows Tendo Akira, a former employee of the exploitative corporation ZLM, who has been worked to the bone over the last three years of his life and completely drained it of life and color. When he finds out that the world has succumbed to a zombie apocalypse, rather than despair, Akira is excited by the consequence: he no longer has to go to work. With a new lease on life despite the dire circumstances, Akira is determined to live each day to the fullest, crossing out the various things he'd like to do before he dies – before he inevitably turns into a zombie.

The anime series is based on the manga created by Haro Aso (Alice in Borderland) and Kotaro Takata (Hallelujah Overdrive!), which has been serialized in Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday Gene-X since October 2018, with 15 volumes out so far. Zom 100 has been licensed for publishing in English by VIZ, and the series is being published simultaneously with the Japanese release on their digital manga service.

The Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead anime series was announced in January as a deal between Viz Media, Shogakukan, and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, and it is produced by BUG FILMS with direction by Kazuki Kawagoe. The first five episodes of the Zom 100 anime aired in consecutive weeks; however, the series experienced a number of breaks. Two weeks passed between episodes five and six, and another two weeks between episodes seven and eight. The ninth episode of Zom 100 was released in the last week of September before the production hiatus was announced.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead episodes 10 through 12 are scheduled to broadcast on December 25, and the series is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Hulu & Netflix.
