HoYoverse joined Summer Game Fest's day one livestream event to reveal Zenless Zone Zero, the latest title from the Genshin Impact developer. The action-packed trailer offers tons of combat in a similar vein to Genshin Impact while revealing several characters that come together to form factions, with each featuring unique fighting styles.

HoYoverse has extensive experience with Genshin Impact, a successful action-RPG that has reached a community of over 21 million players since it was released in 2020. Genshin Impact receives regular updates that add to and improve the game, and HoYoverse will be taking what it knows from Genshin Impact's combat to ensure the Zenless Zone Zero battles are equally as enthralling. The brief Zenless Zone Zero trailer shows multiple fresh faces fighting cybernetic enemies in different ways, alluding to the personality of the characters as well as the changing strategy when switching from one to another.

None of the HoYoverse developers appeared at Summer Game Fest alongside Geoff Keighley, but the presenter assured Genshin Impact fans that it has “the detail of Genshin Impact with a fast-paced action style.” Zenless Zone Zero is set in a futuristic city called New Eridu which has warps in reality that may be the cause of powerful enemies entering the world of the game's heroes. Upon picking a Zenless Zone Zero faction to explore New Eridu with, players can experience the city life with dual character identities which are dubbed "opposing personas."

The first faction of Zenless Zone Zero has been confirmed by HoYoverse, and it's known as the Gentle House which also goes by Cunning Hares presumably depending on which persona is active. The Gentle House includes a mysterious young girl named Anby Demara, the cunning leader and Anby's possible sister Nicole Demara, and dual pistol-wielding cyborg Billy Kid. It's currently unclear just how many factions will be featured in Zenless Zone Zero at launch, but HoYoverse has teased an additional four to be revealed at a later date.

Because there are many unnamed characters in the first Zenless Zone Zero trailer and there's a sign-up option on the game's website, it's likely that more information will release ahead of its launch. While the combat of Genshin Impact is widely praised by the fans and Zenless Zone Zero's trailer shows the combat in a similar style, Genshin Impact fans may choose to keep an eye on the game's development progress. HoYoverse has yet to confirm what platforms Zenless Zone Zero is in development for, but given the modern visuals portrayed in the trailer, the action game is likely being made for newer consoles if it is in fact multi-platform.

Zenless Zone Zero is currently in development.
