Unlike their Hot-Footed Frog counterparts, Tireless Frogs are selective about their environments. They won't be found by cutting down the grass in Hyrule. Instead, these frogs prefer damp and dark places such as caves or wells in Tears of the Kingdom.

Originally, Tireless Frogs could only be farmed while it was raining in Breath of the Wild. Thanks to The Upheaval in Tears of the Kingdom, Tireless Frogs seem to have retreated underground wherever there's water. While they can't be used in armor upgrades, they're an ingredient for elixirs that can give Link an extra stamina wheel, making them quite useful for climbing or gliding.

Tireless Frogs Location

loz totk tireless frog hyrule compendium

Tireless Frogs can be found in some of the wells in eastern Hyrule, and they can also be bought from Beedle at several stables. They tend to prefer undergound caves with water. Chances are if players find the green Hot-Footed Frogs, they'll find at least one or two of the brown Tireless Frogs. Unfortunately, the Tireless Frogs are rarer than Hot-Footed Frogs.

One thing players should do is take a picture of a Tireless Frog. Then, track it on the map (-) with Y-button. This will only work if players have received the Sensor+ and the Hyrule Compendium for the Purah Pad. Players can get these and the Camera by helping Josha at Lookout Landing. Once Link gets the Auto Build Ability, he can help Robbie and enhance the Purah Pad with the Sensor+ and the Compendium.

Just like lizards, Tireless Frogs can be killed. Shooting them with an arrow instead of trying to chase them down will make farming them much easier. While not as timid as lizards, Tireless Frogs will hop away if Link makes too much noise, so be sure to enhance his Stealth beforehand.

Search in Wells and Caves

With 58 wells and countless caves in Hyrule, it can be difficult knowing where to start looking for the Tireless Frogs. Players should check the North Well in Hateno Village. Players can reach Hateno Village by warping to the Zanmik Shrine (3469, -2178, 0148). There are at least 2-3 Tireless Frogs hopping about down there.

Another well to check out is the one at Dueling Peaks Stable (1757, -1957, 0010). Within the well are two more wells that lead deeper underground. Tireless Frogs can be found in the water, so try to slow Link's descent with the paraglider.

Buy Tireless Frogs from Beedle

Beedle sells Tireless Frogs for 100 Rupees per frog at the following locations:

  • Wetland Stable (0914, -0248, 0034)
  • Snowfield Stable (-1630, 2587, 0234)
  • Foothill Stable (2610, 1144, 0148)
  • Kara Kara Bazaar (-3273, -2551, 0023)
  • New Serene Stable (-1348, 0745, 0085)
  • Riverside Stable (0326, -1087, 0009)

He only stocks two Tireless Frogs, so players can get up to a total of 12 Tireless Frogs if they buy his entire stock at each stable/bazaar. This is arguably the easier way to collect Tireless Frogs albeit the more expensive. 100 Rupees is a lot for those just starting their TotK journey. It's better to use money towards armor or ingredients for cooking or armor upgrades. Once players have more Rupees, they can buy all 12 Tireless Frogs without making a dent in their wallet.

If players have a beetle in their inventory , then Beedle will offer to trade an elixir for it. Some beetles such as the Energetic Rhino Beetles should not be traded due to their rarity. Energetic Rhino Beetles are also required for upgrading the Armor of the Wild. Always watch what Beedle is saying when speaking to him to avoid accidentally trading an Energetic Rhino Beetle for an elixir.

Where to Use Tireless Frogs

loz totk enduring elixir

Tireless Frogs aren't necessary for upgrading any armor sets in Tears of the Kingdom. However, they'll need to be cooked with monster parts to create Enduring Elixirs. Unlike Stamina Elixirs, Enduring Elixirs will restore AND expand the stamina wheel. Temporary Stamina Wheels are like Temporary Hearts: They can't be recovered with food/elixirs. Once they disappear, they're gone forever. The only way to get them back is to take another Enduring Elixir.

One recipe to gain a quarter of a Temporary Stamina Wheel is:

  • x1 Tireless Frog
  • x1 Bokoblin Horn

Be sure not to cook a Tireless Frog with a food item such as an Endura Carrot. Although both of these give temporary stamina, critters and food are not compatible. Instead, Link will end up cooking Dubious Food, which has no special effects.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
