Quite a few merchants sell Hylian Rice, but many aren't available in the early game or straight away after Link's first visit. Hylian Rice can be purchased at the following merchants for 12–16 rupees:

  • Zora's Domain General Store (immediately)
  • Lookout Landing General Store (after a while)
  • Gerudo Town Cooking Ingredient Store (only available after completing the Gerudo section of Regional Phenomenon)
  • Hateno Village General Store (immediately)
  • Beedle (not in every location, but randomly)

For free, Hylian Rice can be dropped by cutting long grass. The best spots for this are around Hateno Village, where the player usually gets one Hylian Rice per couple of swings with a sword or bladed weapon.   • Rice Balls - There are many types of Rice Balls, and Rice Balls can have different effects depending on the ingredients used. Any Vegetable and Hylian Rice will make a Veggie Rice Ball, any Seafood and Hylian Rice will make a Seafood Rice Ball, and the same goes for mushrooms and meat.
  • Curry - Combining Goron Spice, Hylian Rice, and something from another ingredient category will make curry.
  • Porridge - Hylian Rice and Milk will make a Porridge, and adding another ingredient will impact the final result.
