Getting a Stone Talus Heart in TotK

Link fighting a Stone Talus in Breath of the Wild

Fighting a Stone Talus can be tricky, especially when players are early into their adventure and don't have many heart containers. Players can stun them relatively easily by using Recall to redirect their rock throw into them. This leaves them open for the player to climb up and attack their weak point for massive damage. Bludgeoning weapons like clubs and hammers are the most effective here, due to the Talus being made of stone. When climbing the Talus, Ascend can be useful.

Once the Stone Talus is defeated, the Heart can be found lying on the ground among the other items it drops. It's too large to put into the inventory, but can still be incredibly useful.

How to Use a Stone Talus Heart

Once the Talus is defeated and the Heart is accessible, players are able to use Ultrahand and Fuse on the Heart. Ultrahand can be used to lift and attach the Heart to other objects, but players will get much more use out of the heart by Fusing it. Fusing the Heart to a one-handed weapon will create a one-handed club, while two-handed weapons will create larger hammers. Fusing the Heart to a Spear can create a Stone Talus Sledge, which can strike quicker than the other two options but hits a smaller area when used.

The Stone Talus Heart creates some very powerful weapons which also serve as exceptional mining equipment, and they can even prove very effective when fighting other Talus' due to being bludgeoning weapons. With the Recall trick, players can stun and destroy Stone Talus easily and grab the hearts needed to make these weapons whenever they need them. Stone Talus, like all enemy types, will respawn after a Blood Moon to allow players to obtain more of the necessary materials.
