The 10 Best Video Game Scores and Soundtracks of 2023

Many games have gorgeous sound design and music in 2023, but a good number of them stand out above the rest for musical excellence across the board.

There aren't many open worlds out there as engaging as Tears of the Kingdom, and fans would love any excuse to jump into this amazing game. One such way that players can have a great time in this title is by following one of the many self-imposed challenges that many players have collectively formulated. Some of these challenges are pretty weird and ridiculously tough to boot.

6 No Jumping

Difficulty Level: Low

At a glance, it might not seem all that weird to try out a Tears of the Kingdom run where players can't jump. Most of the places in the world can be accessed via climbing, and strategic drops can be used to ascend and descend in the game's environment.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Player Shows Unique Use for Sled

A Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player discovers a unique use for the sled to navigate around one of the three central Labyrinth Shrines.

However, it's only when players get into this challenge that they'll understand how weird this situation is. Roaming around the world becomes a puzzle in itself, and small gaps suddenly need valuable Zonai devices to be traversed. Jump attacks and the like are also forbidden too.

5 Only Use Autobuild

Difficulty Level: Low

Tears of the Kingdom Player Builds Functional Podracer

Autobuild is one of the most unique powers in Tears of the Kingdom, designed mainly to whittle down the time players spend using Ultrahand to build the same devices and contraptions. With the use of a few Zonaite or Zonai devices, players can build premade structures or make device schematics come to life as they wish.

However, this challenge forbids players from using Ultrahand to create any contraptions. Instead, players can only rely on Autobuild and the schematics they have at their disposal. Suffice it to say, hoarding Zonaite becomes the need of the hour for players who want to get through the game's challenges without running out of this valuable resource midway through a puzzle.

4 Don't Use Zonai Powers

Difficulty Level: Medium

The new Zonai Powers in Tears of the Kingdom are a great flex that show just how malleable Nintendo's engine is. The game makes Breath of the Wild look like a prototype at times, which is a ridiculous statement given the quality of the Switch launch title.

Legendary weapons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are worth tracking down, and here is how they compare to one another.

So, a challenge that prevents players from accessing these powers at all can prove to be rather unfair and suck any joy from the game, but that's not the case. If anything, it forces players to tackle easy problems in a unique manner and interact with the title in a way that they might never have otherwise.

3 Only Use Zonai Devices To Deal Damage

Difficulty Level: High

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Selecting A Zonai Device While Fighting A Gleeok

The Zonai devices in Tears of the Kingdom are things of beauty, letting players create everything from automated sentries to proper vehicles in the game. They can also be used to deal damage when the situation calls for it, but players are better off relying on their weapons if they wish to be efficient in combat.

So, any challenge that forbids players from using conventional methods to damage enemies is bound to be a tough nut to crack. This challenge forces players to only use Zonai devices to damage enemies, which can prove to be a huge pain against bosses. Players can still run away from regular enemies, but even that can rear its ugly head at times when players don't have enough materials at hand to make things easier on themselves.

2 Only Use Sage Abilities To Deal Damage

Difficulty Level: High

The Sages of Wind in Tears of the Kingdom

The Sages in Tears of the Kingdom are a bit of a mixed bag. Given the sheer wealth of amazing additions in the game, most people would argue that the game could've done without these awkwardly-implemented Sages that clog up the screen. Players can accidentally trigger their powers as well, which is pretty annoying.

This challenge ups the difficulty of Tears of the Kingdom even more, forcing players to rely on the power of the Sages in battle and nothing else. Players get a free pass early on when they're forced into combat encounters without these companions, but they must unlock the Sages as soon as possible if they wish to explore the open world without being completely helpless against regular mobs and mini bosses.

1 No Healing

Difficulty Level: Extreme

Trying to tackle the challenges of Tears of the Kingdom without any healing option is a nightmarish proposition that only the most skilled players should attempt. There's a strict restriction on ingesting any kind of healing item, which can prove to be a huge pain for obvious reasons.

Players must avoid taking damage as much as possible and increase their hearts as much as possible to stand a chance against tougher foes. The only way to heal is by staying at an inn, fusing the Master Sword with a Light Dragon part, or anything else that doesn't involve Link going to the pause screen and ingesting as much food as possible.
