One talented The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player is turning heads with an updated Batmobile design that would make the Dark Knight himself proud. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom took the gaming world by storm when it finally launched on the Nintendo Switch back in May, and part of that stems from Link’s new crafting abilities that allow the hero of Hyrule to build pretty much anything the player controlling him can dream up.

This includes handy vehicles that can carry Link across Tears of the Kingdom’s vast and colorful open world, and naturally, some players have drawn inspiration from popular movie and video game franchises outside of Nintendo’s umbrella. Examples include a speedy Podracer straight out of Star Wars Episode 1: Racer and a ridable mech that could easily be part of the Autobot army of Transformers fame. One Tears of the Kingdom player even rebuilt the Tumbler Batmobile from The Dark Knight Trilogy, and now another is showing off their own Gotham-inspired ride.

Earlier this week, Reddit user Wild_Relation3742 posted a video of their Hylian take on the legendary Batmobile to r/tearsofthekingdom. Unlike the previously mentioned Tumbler, this Batmobile is a more traditional design that features a closing canopy and rocket-powered engine - which as some fans in the comment section of Wild_Relation3742’s post note doesn’t seem to drain batteries as quickly as one would expect. Others have pointed out how appropriate it is for Link to drive his newly built Batmobile out of a cave like the Caped Crusader and have posted their own versions of the original video with music pulled from the 1989 Batman movie and Batman: The Animated Series.

Batmobiles and Podracers are just some of the many different vehicles and contraptions that players have been able to create in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom using Link’s versatile new Fuse and Ultrahand powers. Some more stationary players have constructed giant skateboard ramps and amusement park rides for Link to enjoy when he isn’t busy saving Hyrule, while the more mischievous of the game’s large fanbase is instead building torture devices with which to inflict untold cruelty on hapless Koroks.

While Batman wouldn’t approve of the lattermost activity, seeing the Dark Knight’s legendary vehicle brought to life in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is certainly a treat for shared fans of Nintendo and DC Comics. Given that both Link and Batman often rely on gadgets and strategy to defeat their enemies and save the day, it seems all too fitting for Hyrule’s champion to ride in a vehicle inspired by Gotham City’s greatest defender as he charges into battle against the evil Ganondorf.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
