Players wishing to upgrade their armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will need to seek out the aid of one of Hyrule's Great Fairies. However, the dangers of the world have forced the fairies into hiding, and only the serenade of their favorite instruments will coax them out of their fountains.
Where to Find Great Fairy Kaysa in TotK
In Tears of the Kingdom, Great Fairy Kaysa can be found at the coordinates -1555, -1237, 0085 in the southwest of Hyrule Field before the Gerudo Canyon Pass. Until the players complete the "Serenade to Kaysa" side adventure, she will refuse to open her fountain due to the outside world being dangerous.
If they have already completed the previous "Serenade to a Great Fairy" side adventure, players can begin "Serenade to Kaysa" at the Outskirt Stable located downhill of the Great Fairy Fountain at -1451, 1270, 0032.
Fast traveling to the Tsutsu-um Shrine will put players in position to reach both the nearby Great Fairy Fountain and Outskirt Stable. At the latter location, Link can find Mastro and the assembled Stable Trotters practicing at the amphitheater.
Serenade to Kaysa Walkthrough
Players can speak to Mastro at Outskirt Stable to learn that the Great Fairy Kaysa has sequestered herself within the nearby Great Fairy Fountain.
In the time before the Upheaval, Kaysa used to enjoy the calming sounds of the flute. However, the flutist of the Stable Trotters has since parted ways with the group and hasn't been seen.
Luckily for all involved, Mastro has overheard from a traveler from the Faron region that they had heard the sound of a flute near Highland Stable.
Finding Pyper
Making their way southeast, players will find Highland Stable in the Fural Plain of the Faron Grasslands. Teleporting to the Utsushok Shrine can expedite the journey to locate the flutist Pyper near the coordinates 0523, -3393, 0048.
Players can talk to NPCs in the area to learn that Pyper has been staying at the stable. If players have yet to complete "The Flute Player's Plan" side adventure, they can spot him hiding up in a nearby tree.
After explaining the situation to him, Pyper will be eager to return to the Stable Trotters, but first, he has something important to do here at the stable.
In a second attempt to show his friend a glowing tree, Pyper will ask Link to help him acquire ten Sunset Fireflies.
These insects are luckily abundant in the nearby fields at nighttime and can be easily collected if players are stealthy enough. Beedle will also sell the fireflies in small increments that players can purchase each in-game day.
Returning to Pyper with all ten fireflies will trigger a nice cutscene after which Pyper will leave to rejoin the Stable Trotters at Outskirt Stable.
Repairing Breezer
Although ecstatic that Pyper has returned, Mastro shares with Link more unfortunate news: the trusty wagon of the Stable Trotters, Breezer, has broken down and is without its wheels. Furthermore, the path to the Great Fairy Fountain is too rough for a horse to traverse.
Near the stable, players can find a partially finished cart made of Big Wheel Zonai Devices and a stone slab. Players can complete the cart with a Steering Stick found on the ground nearby and attach the wagon to the top.
Players can speak to Mastro again to have the Stable Trotters board the upgraded Breezer for Link to transport them up the hill.
The Big Wheels allow the cart to safely and somewhat steadily drive over the rocky path up to the fountain. Although it's bumpy, players should follow the path instead of trying to drive straight up the hill. If the troupe feels they might fall out, they'll stop the trip and return to the stable.
At the top of the hill, the Stable Trotter will exit the wagon and begin playing for the Great Fairy with Pyper now a part of the ensemble.
Hearing the sound of the flute will cause Kaysa to burst from her fountain and greet the party. Following some additional dialogue, players will from this point be able to visit Kaysa at her Great Fairy Fountain to upgrade their armor. The level of the upgrade will depend on the total number of Great Fairy Fountains the player has access to, increasing with each Great Fairy's power.
