The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been a massive success and fans are thoroughly enjoying every bit of the game, from the adventures to the incredibly difficult battles and even the smaller things like cooking and coming up with various recipes. The world of Tears of the Kingdom is massive and is filled with all sorts of things for the players to do.

Cooking is an incredibly important part of the game and to tackle the various obstacles that lie in the parts of the players, they will need to find certain rare ingredients and even insects at times. One such rare insect is the Smotherwing Butterfly.

What Are Smotherwing Butterflies?

Tears of the Kingdom Smotherwing Butterfly

Known to live near the volcanic regions, the Smotherwing Butterflies are very rare insects that can be found only across a few places in Hyrule and, even in the places that they do populate, players can't find enough of them. They are very useful, however, as their body contains a heat-resistant liquid that can be used to make elixirs that offer resistance to flames.

As players know already, quite a few locations in Tears of the Kingdom require players to have resistance to flames and that is exactly where this rare creature comes into play.

As mentioned before, the Smotherwing Butterfly is a very rare creature and players won't come across them often. However, whenever they are in the vicinity, they are quite easy to spot as they are large and their color stands out quite a bit. As is expected, these butterflies will stay closer to the hotter regions across Hyrule, such as the magma flows.

Some of the very best locations to find as well as farm the smothering butterfly are Death Mountain as well as Eldin Canyon.

Once the players are at these locations, they can look around for them and, thankfully, these butterflies can be easily spotted if nearby. Capturing them is not as easy as spotting them, however, since they can be easily spooked. As such, the players will have to be on their toes to grab them.

To better farm the Smotherwing Butterflies, the players will have to get the ones that they find across Death Mountain and Eldin Canyon, and then wait for the next Blood Moon. Once it is time, players will find that these insects have returned and can thus farm them across these two locations.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available to play now on the Nintendo Switch.
