The new Fuse Ability in Tears of the Kingdom allows Link to combine just about anything to shields or swords to increase their attack power and durability. While players can fuse objects to arrows, they can't increase a bow's durability the same way they can sword/shields. Fortunately, the bows that Link will pick up from enemies or loot from chests aren't decayed from the gloom. This applies to the Swallow Bow, a weapon exclusive to the Hebra region.

Those familiar with Breath of the Wild may know why Swallow Bows can be important weapons despite their relatively low attack. They're designed to draw quicker than most bows, making them good for rapid fire attacks. While the Swallow Bow can be swapped out for something better in Tears of the Kingdom, players may find them worth keeping.

Swallow Bow Locations

legend of zelda tears of the kingdom swallow bow

There are three hidden away in Hebra, which means players are going to want cold-resistant gear before they start looking in Tears of the Kingdom. Two are locked in chests while one can be picked up. The Swallow Bow locations are Hebra Peak, Flight Range, and Talonto Peak.

Players will need level 2 cold-resistance before going to Hebra Peak and Talonto Peak. Two pieces of the Snowquill Set (found at the armor store in Rito Village, -3596, 1802, 0212.) should suffice. If players find they're short on rupees, then they can instead take Chilly Elixirs or a meal that has the cold-resistance effect:

  • Chilly Elixirs can be created with a Monster Part and a Summerwing Butterfly (or Warm Darner).
  • Meals can gain cold-resistance by cooking Sunshrooms, Sizzlefin Trout, Spicy Peppers, or Warm Safflina. There are plenty of Spicy Peppers at the stables in Hebra, so cooking a batch of them should be enough for Link.

It's highly recommended to reveal the map from the Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower ( 2304, 3066, 0433) and the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower ( -3684, 2343, 0233 ) before searching for the Swallow Bows. This will make it easier to place accurate markers/pins on the map.

Flight Range

The closest Swallow Bow is at Flight Range, coordinates: -3794, 2318, 0161.

Players will want to head north from Rito Village. They'll see a path that splits, so take the leftmost path to find the Flight Range. Those familiar with Breath of the Wild should remember that the Flight Range is where they met Teba. In Tears of the Kingdom, players will instead find Kaneli. Talk to him, then pick up the nearby Swallow Bow and bundle of arrows. Players can also get 50 Rupees from Kaneli by partaking in a mini-game.

Talonto Peak

The next Swallow Bow is at Talonto Peak at coordinates: -3189, 2561, 0458.

From the fork in the road that leads to the Flight Range, take the rightmost path instead. Players will need to follow the trail up into the mountains, then navigate the caves. Alternatively, they can descend from Rospro Pass Skyview Tower (-3684, 2343, 0233) to -3189, 2561, 0458.

The Swallow Bow on Talonto Peak is locked in a chest in the middle of a Bokoblin Camp. The best way to get it is by eliminating all the Bokoblins. Alternatively, they can equip the Bokoblin Mask (obtained by giving one Bubbul Gem to Koltin) and loot the bow without having to fight.

Hebra Peak

legend of zelda tears of the kingdom hebra peak swallow bow location

The farthest Swallow Bow is in a chest frozen in a column of ice on Hebra Peak. Players will want to go to the coordinates: -2631, 2716, 0509.

If players leave from Talonto Peak, they should head east towards their destination. However, if players have already activated the Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower at -2304, 3066, 0433, then they should warp there instead. From Pikida Stonegrove Tower, fly south. Look for two, large columns of ice. Melt the one on the right (with the silhouette of a chest), not the one on the left.

Ice can be melted with weapons fused with a Rubyor by using Fire Fruit. Players don't need to swing their weapon at the ice, either, Simply having it equipped or drawn and standing next to the ice will melt it. This way, Link won't wewar away at the weapon's durability.

Where to Use Swallow Bow

legend of zelda tears of the kingdom legacy of the rito

The Swallow Bow can obviously be used for combat. Some Swallow Bows may come with a bonus, such as higher attack power. Those may be worth keeping in the inventory. However, most Swallow Bows have a base attack of 8. They're not strong, but Link can draw them much quicker, making their speed worth their sacrifice in power.

The better way to use the Swallow Bow is to give it to Teba after completing the Wind Temple. Speaking to Teba after the Wind Temple will unlock the side quest Legacy of the Rito. This will net Link the Great Eagle Bow, which was Champion Revali's signature weapon. However, having Teba craft it requires rare materials, so players should decide for themselves if the trade is worth it:

  • x1 Swallow Bow
  • x3 Diamonds
  • x5 Bundles of Wood
