Secret of the Ring Ruins is a main quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that players can initiate after receiving the Find the Fifth Sage quest. It is started by speaking with Paya and Tauro at coordinates 1816, -0951, 0113 within Kakariko Village, and it is composed of numerous objectives. This complete walkthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Secret of the Ring Ruins quest is here to help players that may get stuck as they work through those objectives.

To note, players must have access to TotK's Camera ability and 10 Heart Containers to complete Secret of the Ring Ruins. While neither of those requirements are particularly difficult to fulfill, fans should still confirm that they have their business in order before attempting to address this main quest.

That next objective is to find Tauro at Dracozu Lake, which is just southeast of the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower. Upon arriving at this location, players should enter the pillar-shaped ruin at 0973, -2533, 0008 and speak with Tauro.

Dracozu Lake Ruins Mural Riddle

Tauro will read a mural during this conversation, and it serves as a two-part riddle that players must solve. Here is how fans should approach both parts of this puzzle, and they will receive their next task when the job is done:

Wear the Electric Garb Hidden at Long-Neck Dragons Along the Wide-Mouthed Forest Serpent

Th riddle centers around locating and equipping three pieces of Charged Armor. All of this TotK armor can be looted from nearby chests, and here is how to find each piece:

  • Charged Shirt: Climb the stairs that flank the Dracozu Lake mural.
  • Charged Trousers: Use a Bomb Flower to destroy the cracked rocks at 0983, -2691, 0008 and enter the small room
  • Charged Headdress: Use a sharp weapon to cut the vines at 0969, -2801, 0007 and enter the small room.

Offer a Zonai Charge to the Altar at the Tail

With the Charged Armor equipped, players should make their way to the end of the Dracozu River and head to 0691, -2745, 0013. There is a small room in this position, and there is an altar against its back wall. Fans must now place a Zonai Charge upon that altar, and here is how that is done:

  • Select Zonai Charge from within the Inventory's Materials tab.
  • Choose Hold.
  • Press B to return to game.
  • Place the circle upon the altar.
  • Press A to drop the Zonai Charge.

To New Sky Island

Players must now set their sights on a sky island that has appeared above the Dracozu River. To reach this island, players should interact with the circle inside TotK's Popla Foothills Skyview Tower to use it as a launchpad and glide to the northwestern tip, calling upon Tulin's ability as needed.

Cross Thunderhead Isles

It is now time for Tears of the Kingdom players to cross the Thundrehead Isles, and the southeast corner is their ultimate destination. While there are many ways to go about performing this journey, here is a path that fans should consider taking:

  • Starting from island in the northwest corner (0721, -2616, 0744), glide off south side to reach island with three lamps (0876, -2875, 0645).
  • Stand in center and use Ascend ability to reach platform above.
  • Follow path to angled launchpad at 0899, -2899, 0759 and wait for lightning to hit nearby dragon head.
  • Follow path to broken ramp at 0967, -2939, 0770 and use TotK's Ultrahand ability to bridge gap with nearby wood platforms.
  • Follow path to rails at 1048, -3097, 0779.
  • Move t-shaped metal platform from left rail to right rail, attach fans, and ride.
  • Walk forward to get underneath ledge and Ascend.
  • Walk forward toward enclosedShrine. Glide to rails that are down and to the left.
  • Place t-shaped wood platform on rails, attach fans, and ride.
  • Use Ascend halfway through ride to reach Joku-usin Shrine.
  • Climb ramps to reach 1059, -3311, 0795 and Ascend.
  • Follow path to building with three Like Like (1065, -3346, 0820).
  • Stand near chest against back wall and Ascend.
  • Rotate crank on top of building clockwise as far as possible.
  • Stand on angled launchpad and wait for lightning to hit nearby dragon head.
  • Glide southeast as far as possible, using Tulin's ability to reach small island at 1285, -3428, 0792.
  • Glide down to Shrine below.

Players will now find themselves on Dragonhead Island, and they should use a sharp weapon to cut through the vines to the north of the Joku-u Shrine. This cutting will give fans access to a room with a large door, and they should confirm that they have at least 10 filled hearts and then hold the interact button until that door opens. Players should then interact with the Zonai Relic that is beyond that door to trigger a short cutscene and complete the Secret of the Ring Ruins main quest.
