In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there are tons of stables that players can visit, and each one has its own set of interesting characters and peculiar side quests. While exploring the South Akkala region, players might come across Kaifa, an NPC at South Akkala Stable.
Kaifa is deeply troubled by the disappearance of one of the stable's Cuccos; she even believes that she can hear it from time to time. This guide will show players the story behind this strange Tears of the Kingdom encounter and explain what can be done to help Kaifa.
Kaifa and the Cucco
Kaifa can be found at South Akkala Stable, usually outside, near the sheep pen, or inside the stable. When players first talk to her, they will learn that while she was busy taking care of the stable, one of the Cuccos disappeared. She explains that this particular Cucco always hated being alone and wouldn't lay any eggs by itself.
Additionally, Kaifa claims that sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night to its "sad squawking," but presumes she must've dreamt it.
If players enter the South Akkala Stable Well, they will find a lonesome Cucco wandering around. It must've fallen and gotten trapped down there.
How to Help the South Akkala Stable Cucco
There is no way to warn Kaifa that the Cucco is in the well, but players can help it by making sure it doesn't feel as lonely.
To help the South Akkala Stable Cucco, players must get another Cucco from the pen and get it inside the well. Gamers can do this by dropping, throwing, or carrying the Cucco into the well. Once the lonely Cucco sees the other Cucco and realizes it's no longer alone, it will run towards it and lay an egg.
The next time players speak to Kaifa, she will mention that the Cucco squawking she usually hears sounds much happier than before.
Unfortunately, nothing happens if players find a way to get the Cucco out of the well. This encounter's objective is only to bring a friend to keep the Cucco company.
Once enough time goes by, the other Cucco will despawn, and Kaifa will go back to her mournful dialogue. Oddly enough, the Cucco will create a nest inside the well and lay eggs every now and then. Since eggs can be pretty difficult to find in Tears of the Kingdom, this is a great way to effortlessly get some.
