One Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player puts Link's Recall ability through some tests and discovers a surprising results. The design philosophy for Nintendo on Tears of the Kingdom was likely bigger is better as its latest Zelda title takes the already massive Breath of the Wild map and expands upon it. Now, players have islands in the sky to explore as well as the dark and cavernous depths below the surface to spelunk, not to mention the various caves that have also appeared due to the Upheaval event in game.

However, for many fans, one of the more surprising aspects of Tears of the Kingdom is that the popular Sheikah Slate was replaced entirely. In his latest adventure, Link has a whole suite of new powers to utilize like Ultrahand, which allows players to build and create just about any sort of object they can imagine. Fuse can unify weapons and shields with other items, and Ascend is basically a Nintendo developer cheat code that lets players escape through most ceilings. Players have been putting the Recall ability through numerous test as of late, to see just how powerful rewinding time can be.

The results come from a Tears of the Kingdom subReddit user named NightTarot who set out to test the maximum range of Recall on one of the sky islands. Using a rocket that has been fused together with some wood and Naydra's Scale, NightTarot fires and arrow into the rocket setting it off a huge distance away before it runs out of fuel and drops the scale down to Hyrule proper. What would normally be a horrifying moment for most players with a rarer item seemingly being lost turned into an opportunity for a quick test.

Showcasing that the item was way out of range for Tears of the Kingdom's powerful Ultrahand ability, NightTarot switched to Recall which adds a yellow line where the item dropped. Moving the cursor over to it does bring up the ability to rewind the item's trajectory even at such a massive distance. Unfortunately, as confirmed by other players, Recall's limit is more time based rather than distance based being only able to rewind 20 seconds of time provided there is movement. Anything beyond those 20 seconds is ultimately lost, and the item freezes in place. The other main issue to recall is item despawn, which nullifies any of this testing.

Tears of the Kingdom has so many different systems working behind the scenes that it helps create unique and different experiences for everyone playing. While the game does have a main story, how players get to these points are wildly different. Zelda fans have not hesitated to share all the wild creations they've made, either to overcome various challenges in the game or simply to test to see if something was possible.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is currently available for Nintendo Switch.
