A newly revealed pre-order offering for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has some fans scratching their heads. A pre-order bonus from Amazon Japan includes a physical spoon, stamped with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom logo. While eating food is a mechanic in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and likely part of Tears of the Kingdom, too, celebrating the feature with a spoon pre-order bonus seems a bit odd for Nintendo.Food in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an interesting feature that had its detractors among the game's playerbase. Players were able to gather ingredients across Breath of the Wild's map, throw them into a campfire stove, and make a meal offering buffs and bonus stats with relative ease. But, for many, making food was rarely a necessity. While cooking details for Tears of the Kingdom have yet to be shared, many are hoping for improvements to make the feature more robust.RELATED: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Skipping Major Gaming EventIt's unclear if Amazon Japan's decision to offer a The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom spoon as a pre-order bonus is related to cooking in the game, but it's happening nevertheless. Everyone purchasing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom early on Amazon Japan will be sent the spoon as a bonus. Along the spoon's handle is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's name, as well as the Zelda logo.

For those hoping to have a full set of Zelda utensils, there's more where the spoon came from. Those pre-ordering The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Collector's Edition will also receive a fork. The fork, much like the spoon, will have the Zelda title and logo stamped on its handle. It's not even a full single set of utensils, as there's no knife offered, but with both a spoon and a fork Zelda fans might be able to enjoy a full meal.

The decision to offer a spoon and fork as pre-order bonuses for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is somewhat bizarre. The one connection fans can think of is that it has to do with the food feature in Breath of the Wild, carried over into Tears of the Kingdom. But it's also possible that someone thinks Zelda fans may just have a use for a spoon and a fork.

Leaks of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's art book have made clear that food will still be a big part of the game. Perhaps Tears of the Kingdom's spoon and fork will inspire players to create some of the game's meals in real life. Sadly, the pre-order bonuses aren't being offered in the United States. Western Zelda fans will have to make do with utensils that don't have The Legend of Zelda logo on them.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases May 12 on Switch.
