A newly discovered rupee glitch can help Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players get rich very quickly without much effort. The rupee is the Zelda franchise's defacto currency that allows Link to purchase all sorts of items and outfits across his various adventures. Surprisingly, the rupee is a little harder to come by in Tears of the Kingdom, forcing players to come up with more creative ways to earn some money to afford some of the more expensive items like house building at Tarrey Town.

While there are plenty of legitimate ways to earn rupees, mainly through selling off items and resources, many Tears of the Kingdom players have instead turned to item duplication to simplify the process even further. Throughout each of the updates that Nintendo has issued to this point, players have discovered the existence of glitches and exploits which could be used to duplicate items like gemstones, giving them a highly valuable stack that can be easily sold. As of the latest version of Tears of the Kingdom, players have discovered a new way to duplicate items for easy money.

Known as Hold Smuggling, this latest glitch comes from a YouTuber named Gaming Reinvented. Hold Smuggling allows Tears of the Kingdom players to sell the same set of items that the game thinks is being stuck in a held position over and over until the maximum rupee amount of 999,999 is reached.

  1. Find a high ledge to climb with the player's horse directly at the bottom.
  2. Equip any cheap item and hold the throw button as Link jumps off aiming to land on top of his horse.
  3. Pause the game before landing, and hold one of each item to sell. Make sure that there is at least 1 item left in the inventory not being held.
  4. Watch an unlocked memory.
  5. Hold the same items again, unpause, and land on the horse.
  6. Head to a shopkeeper, prepare to throw an item again so the option to sell appears with the merchant.
  7. Sell the items that have been held.
  8. Exit, go back into the sell menu and the items recently sold will again appear inside Link's inventory ready to be sold again.

This certainly isn't the first rupee farming method players have come across. Recently, players have discovered a fairly easy method known as the Frozen Meat Glitch. Essentially, Tears of the Kingdom players need to have the Autobuild ability unlocked in order to create a makeshift contraption of wood and meat that can be utilized in a snowy area. Instead of crafting it, the meat will freeze and fall to the ground, to which the player can then repeat the process and sell the stacks of Icy Gourmet Meat to a vendor.

Unsurprisingly, it's likely that Nintendo will be moving quickly to patch this latest glitch out, as this isn't the first duplication glitch to have made its way into the game. In fact, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has had a near constant number of duplication glitches discovered by players and for each one that has risen, Nintendo has essentially eliminated it through a corresponding update.
