  • The machine utilizes Link's abilities to transport the Koroks and roast them in fire produced by Zonai flame emitters.
  • This is not the first instance of players devising methods to torment the Koroks, as other fans have created bungee jumps and other contraptions for the tiny NPCs.

One Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player created a new machine specifically designed for torturing the Koroks found in Hyrule. While Tears of the Kingdom introduced new faces to the Zelda franchise, many familiar characters can be found in the latest installment, including the plant-like Koroks.

Koroks have been a part of the Zelda series for a while, featuring in games like the Wind Waker and Breath of the Wild. However, Tears of the Kingdom put a new twist on the characters. Not only can they be found scattered across Hyrule, but some of them need Link's help in reuniting with their friends. These tasks allowed players to come up with methods of transporting the Koroks across the various terrains of the world, and some have used this ability to move the characters to devious ends.

One Tears of the Kingdom player has devised a unique and hilarious way of torturing Koroks in Tears of the Kingdom. Known as zelda_watchan on Twitter, they recently shared a video of their terrifying machine designed for tormenting these small NPCs. In the clip, Link stood next to a Zonai steering stick, looking at what appeared to be a giant basket-like device that contained petrified Koroks. After a moment, Link threw an egg at the device, causing it to come to life. This machine constructed by zelda_watchan began oscillating back and forth, roasting the poor creatures in the fire produced by Zonai flame emitters.

Besides the amusing albeit terrifying contraption made for holding the Koroks, zelda_watchan’s clip stood out due to the number of the tiny NPCs they had captured. Based on the video, they appeared to have close to 20 Koroks on the flat surface of the machine.

This latest creation from zelda_watchan showcases the potential of Link’s new abilities in Tears of the Kingdom. Besides abilities like Fuse and Ascend, players can gain Ultrahand early in the adventure. This allows them to make all sorts of creations, with players going beyond the basics to create unique and complex designs, such as zelda_watchan has done with their deadly contraption.

It should be noted that Korok torture is nothing new in the Zelda community. Many fans have been coming up with their own devilish methods of tormenting the game’s tiny NPCs. For example, another creative player built a bungee jump for Koroks in Tears of the Kingdom, dropping the terrified creatures off the side of a cliff edge. With many players continuing to make intriguing machines in the game, it seems only a matter of time before the next Korok torture device is constructed.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
