One The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has clipped a moment highlighting the pain of Joy-Con drift in the Rakashog Shrine. Joy-Con drift has marred countless Nintendo Switch units since the console was released, and that's no different for some players progressing through The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Gamers will come across many Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom shrines in their journey through Hyrule. While much of the main map of Tears of the Kingdom shares similarities with its predecessor, these shrines provide puzzles that are unique to the game. The first one that Link will explore is called the Ukouh Shrine, which offers minimal challenge and can be located on the Sky Islands. Having already progressed a fair amount passed this point in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, one player has highlighted how deep into the game their Joy-Con drift affects the experience.
Reddit user DursoBR recently shared a clip of their Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gameplay in the Rakashog Shrine. Moving from one beam of light to another, the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom video shows the player trying to interact with the shrine mechanics as Nintendo seemingly intended. As Link readies his shield to reflect the beam of light at a hexagonal switch on the wall, Joy-Con drift moves him to the side and stops the player from progressing through the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom puzzle. The hexagon only partially lights up before the JoyCon drift aims the beam of light in the wrong direction, leading to an extended pause before the shrine's completion.
The Rakashog Shrine is located in the East Gerudo Sky Archipelago region of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Hyrule map. The Reflective Device of the Rakashog Shrine requires that players use the included mirrors and special items to reflect light at certain parts of each given room to unlock the next part of the puzzle. Wrestling with the Joy-Con drift, DursoBR is able to complete the Rakashog Shrine by maneuvering Link strategically. Although DursoBR was able to overcome the Joy-Con drift in this shrine, there may be future puzzles that they aren't able to solve.
Because Joy-Con drift affects so many Switch owners, DursoBR may not be the only Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player to hit this roadblock in their gameplay. While Nintendo may fix faulty Joy-Cons like the one that DursoBR spotlighted, the Tears of the Kingdom fan could miss out on gameplay while waiting for the repair.
