The Sand Boots and Snow Boots were two pieces of armor in Breath of the Wild that made it easier to walk/sprint in sand and snow respectively. Getting them required the completion of two side quests. In Tears of the Kingdom, they're no longer rewards for side quests and are instead put on sale at the Gerudo Secret Club (GSC).

Getting into the Gerudo Secret Club in Tears of the Kingdom is different this time around as well. Link won't be listening in on conversations for a password; he'll need to break in from below. Players will want to bring along a weapon fused with something that can break walls before attempting to get the Sand Boots and Snow Boots.

How to Reach Gerudo Town

loz totk gerudo town route

In short: Gerudo Town is southwest from Kara Kara Bazaar at these coordinates: -3875, -2864, 0043.

Players should leave from Kara Kara Bazaar (coordinates: -3273, -2551, 0023) and take the Sand Seal near the bazaar's Mayatat Shrine. Activate this Shrine to unlock the Travel Point, then approach the Sand Seal as quietly as possible. If players have Stealth Armor, they should equip that before sneaking up on the Sand Seal.

Having a difficult time sneaking up on Sand Seals? Then stun them with a makeshift bomb arrow. Hold down Z R-button to aim with the bow, then up on the directional pad to select and attach a bomb flower from the inventory to the arrow.

The bottom-right map will become unreadable as Link surfs out into the desert. Be careful of the Desert Rift, columns of sand, and enemies (like Gibdos), and use Gerudo Town's coordinates as a guide. Thankfully, coordinates do not vanish from the minimap.

Entering the Gerudo Secret Club Walkthrough

Once players are in Gerudo Town, they should activate the Soryotanog Shrine on the "roof" of the Gerudo Chief's palace. Then, return to the entrance, and look for a way into the sewers. Players will want to head towards these coordinates: -3792, 2903, 0043. Jump down into the waterway from here.

  1. Next, swim towards the wall with the cracked surface. Equip a (preferable) two-handed weapon that has something Fused to it that can break rocks (ex: boulder, giant metal crate). Break through this wall, then follow the path and keep hacking away at the rocks. If Link's weapon breaks, there are Rusty Claymores hidden beneath the walls as well as rocks. Fuse them together if necessary.
  2. To the left in the waterway, there's a ledge that Link can climb. At the top, there's another rock wall. Break through this, too.
  3. Eventually, Link will end up at a dead end with several pillars with the second on the left broken. Switch to Ascend, and Link will spring up into the Gerudo Secret Club.

Once Link appears in the Gerudo Secret Club, go towards the entrance of the store and break the crate by the door. He'll be able to enter through here after meeting Greta, the shop owner, for the first time. This will save players from having to venture through the waterways again.

Which Pair of Boots Should You Get First?

loz totk sand boots snow boots price

The Sand Boots and Snow Boots cost 1200 Rupees and 1300 Rupees respectively. It's very possible that players won't have nearly enough money to purchase both at the same time. Both boots have a base defense of3 and can be enhanced by a Great Fairy.

If players intend on exploring the desert/helping Riju, then the Sand Boots are recommended. They're also 100 Rupees cheaper than the Snow Boots. However, those that want to complete the Hebra Region should instead choose the Snow Boots. Players will eventually want to get both, but for now, grab whatever's the most convenient.

Keep in mind that the Sand Boots and Snow Boots are not part of an armor set. Wearing them with other pieces of armor won't grant any Set Bonuses. Also, while Sand Boots and Snow Boots base defense can be increase, it's generally recommended to enhance armor that make a Set Bonus before "leveling up" the boots.

Aside from the boots, players can also buy the Desert Voe Spaulder and Desert Voe Trousers at the Gerudo Secret Shop.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
