Majora's Mask is one of a handful of special helmets that require players to venture into the Depths and overcome the challenge of a coliseum. The mask is located in the Floating Coliseum at the coordinates -1551, -1263, -0499, located immediately to the northeast of the Mu-ustust Lightroot.

Players that have not yet visited the Mu-ustust Lightroot can alternatively enter The Depths through the Great Plateau North Chasm located on the northeastern edge of the Great Plateau,

Players entering the chasm will land near the Nogukoyk Lightroot and should travel west-northwest toward the coliseum.

How to Get to the Floating Coliseum

The Floating Coliseum sits in a lake in between the Mu-ustust and Nogukoyk Lightroots. From Mu-ustust, players should scale the hill to their east to reach the lake, and from Nogukoyk, players should climb the ridge to their north and make their way west to the lake. Regardless of the direction from which they come, players will come across a Zonai Device workstation that they can use to create a vehicle.

Players have the option of either walking around the perimeter of the lake to the coliseum's entrance on the north side, sailing across the lake and scaling the wall or taking a flying machine to drop in from above.

How to Beat the Floating Coliseum

Within the coliseum, players will find a chest locked by Gloom sitting in the middle of the floor. The Coliseum will lock, and the challenge will begin once players approach the chest. Players should not take this battle lightly and should not enter unprepared: Link must defeat five increasingly-powerful Lynels to earn Majora's Mask.

Players can fuse Ancient Blades to their arrows to instantly defeat each Lynel. Ancient Blades are rare to come across in chests across Hyrule, and enemies defeated in this way will not drop any materials. Players can also receive Ancient Blades as a possible drop for scanning the Link (Archer) amiibo or from an NPC in exchange for 50 Zoanite in the Spirit Temple.

Each Lynel can inflict major Gloom Damage and are impervious to freezing, shocking, disorienting, and other standard stun mechanics. The only upside for players is that they only have to fight each Lynel one at a time. Players could find success in using Puffshrooms to create a puff of smoke and limit the Lynels' visibility. It can be a long fight, so players should take it slow and steady.

Round 1: Red-Maned Lynel

The standard Red-Maned Lynel carries a sword and shield and will rely heavily on circling Link and slashing with its sword. This fight will test a player's preparation for the road ahead, as this will be the least difficult for the Lynels to handle.

Round 2: Blue-Maned Lynel

The Blue-Maned Lynel is released immediately after a player defeats the previous Lynel. It carries a claymore and will perform a spin attack if Link stays in close quarters too long.

Round 3: White-Maned Lynel

The competition starts to heat up with the entrance of the White-Maned Lynel. It carries a halberd and can use it to jump up and slam the ground in front of it.

Round 4: Silver Lynel

The first of the two Silver Lynels will follow after the White-Maned Lynel and carries a sword and shield. Similar to the standard Lynel, it will attempt to get in close to Link and slash with its sword.

Round 5: Armored Silver Lynel

After all other challengers are defeated, the final Lynel steps into the arena. This Silver Lynel emerges from its chamber wearing thick stone armor and wielding a giant stone mace made out of a claymore and stone spike-ball fused together.

In order to do damage to this Lynel, players must destroy its armor using explosives or use a crusher weapon, such as a hammer or two-handed weapon, to chip it away. During the fight, the Lynel will attack with several overhead strikes or like the Blue-Maned Lynel, perform a sweeping spin attack.

Upon finally defeating the last Lynel, the chest in the middle of the coliseum will unlock, and players can claim the coveted Majora's Mask.

Tips on Beating Lynels in TotK

Each of the Lynels operates in essentially the same way: the Lynel will run at Link several times, swinging its weapon with precision. Depending on the type of weapon, Lynels can add a few extra attacks to their arsenal as described above. They also possess bows and will use them if players stay distant. If the player gets too far away or the Lynel cannot reach it, it will begin firing its triple-shot bow into the air to rain down arrows on Link.

The arrows the Lynels shoot will still track the player's position for some time after they loose from the bow. Players should not stand still while a Lynel is actively shooting until they get a feel for the timing. Additionally, the arrows will come through the ceiling of the rooms in the coliseum and will not provide cover. However, standing underneath Zonai Devices can block the arrows indefinitely.

If a Lynel stops moving, players should watch and prepare for it to breathe a series of large fireballs in Link's direction. Additionally, they will sometimes quickly pivot and charge forward on their hands and feet to slam Link to the ground.

Players can use Zonai Devices to attack or defend against the Lynels, but they should be careful during the fight as Lynels have a roar that can destroy any Zonai Device within its range. Following the roar, Lynels will slam the ground and blast the same area with fire.

This helmet is the powerful and titular mask from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It doesn't have any matching bonuses or provide much base defense, but it does have an interesting and useful ability.

While wearing Majora's Mask, most standard enemies in the world will not attack Link and will instead approach him with curiosity. This includes Bokoblins, Lizalfos, Moblins, and even Lynels, though the latter will quickly sus out Link as an imposter.

Additionally, the eyes of Majora's Mask will be illuminated while in the cover of darkness. However, it does nothing more than add to the eerie aesthetic of the mask.
