Nearly all the promotion for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features an image of Link wearing a unique outfit that was surely meant to tie into the game's story, much like Breath of the Wild's Champions Tunic. And just as that now iconic clothing item was not freely available at the outset, Tears of the Kingdom makes Link earn this new item. The key difference, however, between these two items, is that the outfit shown in key art and trailers, known as the Archaic Set, is actually the first outfit Link will find in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
When Link wakes up after Tears of the Kingdom's prologue, he will find the Archaic Legwear but no other clothing items. There will be no hint as to where Link can find any other item of clothing. This guide will provide players with the exact location of Tears of the Kingdom's first shirt, the Archaic Tunic, which will complete Link's starting outfit.
Where to Find Tears of the Kingdom's First Shirt for Link
When Link is set free to explore the first series of Sky Islands, there will be very little information given regarding the types of areas Link will find while exploring. The only task Link is given, after being turned away from the door to the Temple of Time, is to reach each of the first three shrines. There is no mention of where Link might find more physical protection, and danger lurks around most corners.
For anyone who played Breath of the Wild, this will be nothing new. Like its predecessor, Tears of the Kingdom trusts the player to thoroughly explore the world, rewarding them with several items that are easily missable. This is the case with the Archaic Tunic, the game's first piece of clothing for Link's upper body. The item is tucked away in a hidden area called the Poolside Cave, which can be found near the In-isa Shrine, where Link acquires the Fuse ability.
Find the Archaic Tunic in the Poolside Cave
As seen on the map, the Poolside Cave is found just south of the In-isa Shrine, and while it can technically be visited anytime Link can reach it, it makes more sense to visit it just after receiving the Fuse ability. If Link takes on In-isa second, the Poolside Cave will lead him toward the tutorial's third and final shrine.
The exact location of the cave's entrance can be seen on the above map. Head nearly all the way through the cave, and then just before the end, look for a small alcove on the left. The area will appear to have stone walls, with roots coming down from the ceiling and overrunning everything. Here, the chest that contains the Archaic Tunic will be found.
Link will also find many Brightbloom seeds, as well as a Bubbulfrog that will likely give Link one of his first Bubbul Gems. Though small, the cave is worth fully exploring before moving on to the next area.
