One unfortunate fan has recently found out that battles with Flux Constructs in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be even trickier than anticipated after one such encounter went horribly wrong. While many past player attempts at fighting Tears of the Kingdom's enemies ended in disaster, a lot of those outcomes were of the fans' own making, whereas this newly surfaced Flux Construct encounter is just an example of some truly terrible luck.

The new Zelda game features the majority of its predecessor's enemy pool, while also introducing a handful of new monsters and re-imagining a couple of creatures from the past installments in the franchise such as Gibdos. One of its entirely new additions is Flux Construct, a giant Zonai golem capable of changing into a variety of forms and dealing some serious damage in the process. While they tend to hit hard, Flux Constructs are also fairly slow and telegraph their attacks, which makes fighting them relatively straightforward compared to Tears of the Kingdom's non-overworld bosses.

Fighting one of these shape-shifting golems can still go horribly wrong, as Reddit user TheKingOfSeagulls recently found out firsthand; after getting the hardest variant of the creature—Flux Construct III—located in Tears of the Kingdom's Lomei Labyrinth down to a sliver of its health, this unfortunate fan climbed it with the intent of dealing a fatal blow to its weak spot. However, they ended up stepping on the block just as the golem started reshuffling it, thus making Link fall through the now-ethereal cube. The game's camera didn't like that turn of events, and while the player was fighting to stabilize it, Flux Construct slowly turned to its side, crushing Link in the process.

Though that outcome was technically a fatal experience for the protagonist, Link did manage to get up thanks to one auto-reviving Fairy in his inventory, which is when the Tears of the Kingdom gameplay clip shared by TheKingOfSeagulls ends. The unlucky player didn't reveal whether they succeeded in defeating the golem on their second attempt.

While this unfortunate encounter might imply otherwise, fighting Flux Constructs in the new Zelda game is rarely a clunky experience. On the contrary, the way these magical monsters behave allows players to deploy a wide variety of strategies to defeat them, with nearly every one of Link's abilities providing a unique avenue of approach. As such, Flux Construct is actually the enemy that does the best job at meshing with Tears of the Kingdom's many mechanics.
