As players continue finding new secrets in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, one of the more subtle Easter eggs noticed by fans is Link humming classic Zelda songs while cooking. The songs hail from a wide array of other Zelda games, including Link's Awakening and Ocarina of Time.Although 2017's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild reinvented open-world gameplay with minimal hand-holding and a greater focus on experimentation, the newly released Tears of the Kingdom allows even more freedom by adding some startling verticality to the map and offering hundreds of secrets to discover, even when Link is doing something as basic as cooking. The mechanics of preparing food remain unchanged from Breath of the Wild. Links simply has to open his inventory and select up to five foods to hold, before throwing them into a fire — or a pot if players want to mix ingredients. After a few seconds, the ingredients become food that Link can eat to replenish his health, gain powerful buffs, or enjoy other benefits.RELATED: Tears of the Kingdom Producer Says He is ‘Interested’ in a Zelda MovieAlthough the sound of Link combining ingredients over flames registers loudest, fans have noticed some familiar notes in Link's background humming. Twitter user TAHK0 posted a few of the melodies that Link hums, which should be familiar to longtime Zelda fans. There's "Zelda's Lullaby," which originally appeared in A Link to the Past and is generally considered Princess Zelda's theme song. Another well-known track is the "Ballad of the Wind Fish" from Link's Awakening, which is used in that entry to awaken sleeping people and then appeared in different forms in Majora's Mask and Tri-Force Heroes. Link also hums the "Ballad of the Goddess," which appeared in Skyward Sword on the Wii and A Link Between Worlds on Nintendo 3DS. It appears Link even remembers "Saria's Song," which is the second tune learned in Ocarina of Time that's used to talk to Saria or Navi, and even gets Darunia out of his funk and causes him to dance.

Of course, these aren't the only tunes that Link hums while cooking in Tears of the Kingdom, as fans are making further discoveries the more they mix and match ingredients. And luckily, Link is expected to spend more time making meals than in Breath of the Wild since there have been several quality-of-life improvements with the cooking mechanic this time around. For example, Tears of the Kingdom has introduced recipe cards to give players an easy way to remember their favorite recipes. Also, there's a new Zonai device that works as a portable cooking pot, so players can experiment with ingredients wherever they are able to find or make a fire.

Link can obtain a Zonai Portable Pot via the Zonai Device Dispensers scattered throughout Hyrule. These machines allow Link to exchange Zonai Charges obtained by defeating Constructs and through exploration. The dispensers offer a random assortment of Zonai Devices, and the portable pot is one of the possible items Link can receive. With cooking made that much easier, it's only a matter of time until fans have a comprehensive list of all the songs that Link hums from the Zelda franchise.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Switch.
