The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may have revealed something about one of Hyrule's most important figures before the game was even released. Although it is not confirmed, one of the sights in the latest trailer could have major repercussions for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, if not the entire Legend of Zelda franchise going forward. Hyrule's mythology may never be the same after Tears of the Kingdom, especially with what has already been shown off. There is a chance that Link may be about to make the most powerful ally he will ever have.

There are a lot of clues in Tears of the Kingdom's trailers that hint at what is to come, such as Ganondorf's revival and the destructive power he will wield. In addition, some of Link's Sheikah Slate powers look set to return in new forms, as well as some extra abilities thanks to a new prosthetic arm that Link will be sporting during Tears of the Kingdom. The footage from the trailers all points towards an exciting adventure that should be well worth the legacy of the Legend of Zelda name. In particular, there was one scene that may have been brief, but raised a lot of questions worth asking.

Tears Of The Kingdom Might Have Revealed The Goddess Hylia's Physical Form

In the latest trailer, there was a moment that could have a major impact on Tears of the Kingdom's story. There is a brief shot of what appears to be an elf-like girl preparing to cast a spell, followed by a massive laser blasting through several monsters. In only a few seconds of footage, this character has already been built up as a remarkably powerful figure. After all, that kind of magic is rarely seen in the Legend of Zelda games, with Calamity Ganon's path of destruction being one of its only competitors. For that reason, it's possible that this character could be the goddess Hylia.

As one of the most important yet underused characters in The Legend of Zelda's mythos, Hylia appearing in Tears of the Kingdom would raise the stakes of the adventure significantly. Of course, the power of a goddess on the heroes' side would make them seem unstoppable, as the magic shown in the trailer would imply. However, if Hylia has to personally step into the conflict, that paints a bleak picture for Hyrule's situation considering how many adventures she hasn't had to personally intervene in. With that in mind, it's worth wondering how powerful Ganondorf and his minions might have become to justify such a move.

Even if the girl in the trailer isn't Hylia, there are still other options that could have a significant impact, the biggest being Princess Zelda herself. Zelda's role in Tears of the Kingdom looks to be a perilous one, and there is the possibility that she could be the mysterious girl. After all, the two have similar facial structures, and the girl's outfit is similar to one that Zelda wears in the trailer as well. If it is Zelda, then what was shown in the trailer could be an example of her true power as a descendant of the goddess Hylia.

It's difficult to deny how major of an event it would be for Hylia to make a physical appearance in Tears of the Kingdom. Hylia has typically been something of a background player through The Legend of Zelda's many depictions of Hyrule. If she is in Tears of the Kingdom, then it would be a hint that Ganondorf's incarnation in this game is stronger than he has ever been before. While divine influence has been felt in past games, Tears of the Kingdom could be Hylia's greatest display of power to date.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released on May 12, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.
