Nintendo's biggest launch so far in 2023, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It has brought players back to Hyrule, which is now bigger than ever before. Two new abilities, Ultrahand and Fuse, are perhaps the most hyped features among the various others present. While the former allows gamers to create vehicular and mechanical contraptions, the latter allows them to design weapon combinations.

The amount of possible creations for attack and defense may not be unlimited, but the range for sheer creativity and damage output is beyond any expectations players had from the start. There are certainly a lot of weapon fusions for taking down enemies quickly. However, designing practical but inherently funny options is perhaps what brings the most fun to a playthrough.

7 Puffshroom Sword

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

A Puffshroom is a great resource to keep stocked, as it comes in quite handy. When used with a shield, sword, or arrows, it creates a smoke cloud that engulfs enemies and blocks their line of sight. What is fun is how even boss-level foes and their little minions in Tears of the Kingdom can be rendered almost harmless by this fusion.

Although it doesn’t produce a laugh riot, it is quite amusing to see Link run rings around enemies when they are engulfed, and use the old nick-and-poke technique to kill them off. For added effect, players can use a Dazzlefruit Arrows for a second hit. This will cause light to break out among them and stun them, which produces interesting animations as well.

6 Bokoblin Arms

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

This combination can be created by defeating Bokoblins and fusing their dropped arms together in Tears of the Kingdom. Link looks quite hilarious when using the fused Bokoblin Arms as he’s just waving around two skeleton arms, where it appears one is holding onto the other as a sword.

The required material can be obtained quite early on, and the weapon fusion deals a good amount of damage in early-game phases. Not only is it great to have a funny-looking and good weapon, but it is also amusing to see Link take down enemies by bonking them on the head with a pair of skeleton arms.

5 Muddle Bud Arrows

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Fusing Muddle Bud with arrows leads to an attack that is as humorous as it is effective in Tears of the Kingdom. When players use these special arrows against enemies, they are enveloped in a cloud of purple smoke. Now it does contrast wonderfully against the primarily earthy color palette, but it also confuses foes and turns them on each other.

Essentially, Link can fire these from a safe distance and watch as the horde that was about to ambush him turns on itself. It’s even more fun when used in boss-level encounters where minions are also present, as it is amusing to see the stronger mob take down the weaker and tinier ones that were supposed help their boss in combat.

4 Beam-Emitter Shield

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Players can create this combination by fusing the Beam Emitter with any shield they possess. What makes this particular choice fun is how it’s more along the lines of science fiction than the rest of the natural world of Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom. Link’s ability to zap enemies whenever he chooses and see their health deteriorate rapidly is quite amusing, and almost brings Star Wars to mind.

Players can enhance the visual effect by choosing a particularly dark ensemble to boot. Many gamers have even built upon this combination by creating a Beam Emitter Boomerang or by attaching the Zonai Device to their transportation contraptions, essentially becoming lords of destruction.

3 Flame-Emitter Shield

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Another option that is quite powerful and funny, players can use this combination to set fire to everyone and everything around them. What makes it amusing is seeing Link run circles around his foes and set them aflame, not only keeping himself safe, but watching as they burn and wither away.

Similar to fusions with the Beam Emitter, players can also attach the Flame Emitter to the end of a spear or even make it into another boomerang-type option. In the latter case, however, they'll have to make sure to keep some meals on hand. Despite its hilarious appearance, it has immense chaotic potential that can cause Link's own health to rapidly drain away.

2 Beehive Sword

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

The Beehive Sword is probably one of the funniest weapon fusions in Tears of the Kingdom. Although the damage that it causes isn't much, which makes it practically useless, it is hilarious to see Link wander around with a Beehive strapped to his sword. Essentially, it makes a swarm of bees envelop and hurt enemies.

The fact that it can attack multiple targets, along with the animation of the bees swarming around the enemies to sting them, makes it a combination that players should really try out, for the novelty if nothing else.

1 Lizalfos Tail Spear

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

This is a great combination that allows Link to attack from range, appearing quite stylish but amusing at the same time. Players can stock up on Lizalfos Tails by defeating the said entities. What's funny about this weapon is that it's much like a chameleon's tongue in its attack. It is curled up in its normal state, but instantly straightens out when the player presses the attack button, and then curls back up again.

Although it doesn't cause enough damage to be a viable fusion in Tears of the Kingdom's late-game phases, players can pick it up for a fun time or early on as a backup weapon. Since the Lizalfos aren't particularly difficult to defeat, it is easy to farm the component and keep a pile ready.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available on Nintendo Switch.
