Way back in 1998, Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64. The game was the fifth entry in the Legend of Zelda franchise and is widely considered to be the one of best games in the series. Despite having been released nearly 24 years ago, fans are still creating tributes and spotting real-life parallels to The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time to this day.
The plot of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time primarily focuses on the player character Link in his battles against Ganondorf's forces in Hyrule. Partway through the game, Link retrieves the Master Sword from the Temple of Time which in turn sends him into the future in adult form. From there he aids Zelda in her battles against Ganondorf's forces in the blighted future and the still mostly unfazed past. The game was eventually ported to the Nintendo GameCube, the Nintendo Wii, remade for the 3DS in 2011, and was made available on the Nintendo Switch's paid online service.
One of the most recognizable places in the game is the Temple of Time, and fans have made numerous tributes to the building. One fan, for example, recreated the Temple of Time with LEGOs while another made a model replica of it. More recently, a Reddit user revealed something they discovered in real life. In a recent post, thegngirl posted a picture on the Breath of The Wild page revealing an old church that looked like the Temple of Time after it had fallen into ruin.
The abandoned church looks very similar to the Temple of Time in Breath of the Wild, or after having seen better days in Ocarina of Time. By the time the player discovers the Temple of Time in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the building is little more than a ruin. The church in the image likewise has seen better days, lacking a roof and missing several walls. Remarkably, the stained-glass windows appear to be intact, as are several of the brick and stone foundations of the church. Like the Temple itself, it seems to have been made to stand the test of time.
Since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released, the franchise has produced five main installments, numerous spinoffs, and several remasters and remakes. The series' most recent entry, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, was released in 2017 to rave reviews and high sales for Nintendo. A sequel was announced in 2019 with the latest trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 debuting in 2021. However, fans' posts like these and even the Temple of Time's very inclusion in Breath of the Wild itself show that the fandom for Ocarina of Time is still going strong despite all the time that has passed since its initial release.
