Among Nintendo's many franchises, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask remains popular among fans today, with one fan even making a wooden recreation of the titular mask. The Legend of Zelda franchise has long been one of the most successful and popular series produced by Nintendo, with fans both young and old finding joy in the adventures of Link in Hyrule.

First released for the Nintendo 64 console in 2000, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is an action-adventure game and the sixth entry in The Legend of Zelda franchise. Majora's Mask has been lauded by many as the most bizarre, and thus one of the most memorable, of the series and has produced a number of unique creations from loyal fans.

Legend of Zelda fan Classic_Magazine6904 shared a series of photos of their exceptional fully-carved wooden recreation of the notorious Majora's Mask. The mask was created using repurposed wood from an old living room cabinet, likely pine or spruce, per the creator's comments. Utilizing a router, bandsaw, belt sander, and fine rotary tool, the mask took a total of 30 hours to complete. The creator notes that no machine production was used to create this unique piece, which is displayed upon a wooden carving of the Triforce. To finish the project, three layers of oil were applied to seal and shine the wood, as well as to preserve the natural wood look. Two small eyeholes were also carved into the mask, allowing for the impressive Zelda production to be functionally wearable. With numerous Legend of Zelda fan creations being shared daily, this wooden Majora's Mask is a notable standout.

Many of the comments asked the creator about the lack of paintwork, to which the creator explained a desire to keep the wooden appearance, rather than covering it with paint. Others noted that the mask was highly detailed yet lacked the striking irises of the original mask, though this difference does not detract from the impressiveness of the piece. The creator noted that they now have two versions of the mask - one prototype and a second production that they may consider selling to a fellow Legend of Zelda fan.

As The Legend of Zelda continues to gain new fans, the series' older and more recent entries remain among the most successful Nintendo titles. Fan creations like the wooden Majora's Mask serve as a reminder that retro games are still popular among many players, and new releases in familiar series can help to introduce these older games to new audiences. With the popularity of the series' latest release, The Legend ofZelda: Majora's Mask fans continue to find more to love from the heroic franchise.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is available now for Nintendo 3DS, N64, and Nintendo Switch.
