A video was recently shared of a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild player demonstrating an unconventional method of killing Yiga Clansmen that has proven quite amusing to viewers. Numerous other players have also made a practice of showing off such feats, though this video is particularly entertaining.

Ever since its release, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild players have been using the game's physics and features - particularly the Sheikah Slate's runes - to accomplish various feats and tricks. One common pastime is finding new and amusing ways to kill or otherwise mess with disguised Yiga Clan members. These particular enemies' scripted behavior means that they do not attack - and become vulnerable to attacks - until a player finishes speaking to them, which effectively allows players to determine when the battle begins. Players can use this to set up a number of tactics for defeating the Clan members by timing said tactics to go off once the Yiga are susceptible to damage.

In the video, the player first swings a hammer at a boulder that has been affected by the Stasis Rune - which temporarily freezes an object in time and allows players to change its trajectory - next to a disguised Yiga Clan member, causing the boulder's ultimate flight path to be pointed directly towards the Clan member. The player then walks up to the disguised Yiga Clan member and speaks to them while the timer on the Stasis-affected boulder counts down. Eventually, the player reaches the point where the Yiga reveals their true identity and transforms into normal form. However, the clansman never gets a chance to attack, as the Stasis Rune wears off and the boulder's built-up energy causes it to slam into the Yiga Clan member, instantly defeating them as their weapon falls to the ground.

The video has received more than 100 comments from viewers, many of whom have expressed amusement or admiration regarding the tactic. As previously mentioned, this is far from the only case of Breath of the Wild players performing stunts or killing enemies in the game by employing game elements in unconventional ways.

This tactic for defeating Yiga Clan members highlights players' creativity in coming up with new and interesting ways of playing the game. Considering just how expansive the game is, there is little indication of when - or if - players will find a limit to these ridiculous gameplay tactics. Furthermore, the fact that the trend of creating such content has not only continued, but remains popular among viewers even after more than 6 years since Breath of the Wild's release seems to be a testament to its appeal. In addition, it raises the question of what sorts of stunts and tricks players will figure out in Breath of the Wild's sequel, Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now on Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
