While many Nintendo fans may have turned their focus to the upcoming Breath of the Wild 2, which is expected to release next year, some continue to return to the original Breath of the Wild. In addition to playing the game, talented gamers have been making impressive fan art based on the best-selling Zelda title. For example, one artist gave the 2017 game a retro makeover.

Recently, an artist known as 1TZAH on Twitter shared a piece of artwork they had created based on The Legend of Zelda series. Specifically, the artist decided to make artwork featuring Breath of the Wild. However, this fan art stood out because it reimagined what the game would look like on older hardware. According to the creator, they had set out to make a title screen for Breath of the Wild that looked like it belonged on SNES, and the result did not disappoint.

In the GIF shared by 1TZAH, Link and Zelda sat next to a stream as the sun set behind the Dueling Peaks in Breath of the Wild. In addition, the art featured the Master Sword next to the water. Near the top of the screen, the artist included the game name while the text “PRESS START” flashed at the bottom. As if this was not enough, 1TZAH even had several subtle animations, such as leaves flying through the air, Link and Zelda’s hair blowing in the wind, and the trees and flowers swaying back and forth.

Unsurprisingly, numerous fans of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild commented on the fan art created by 1TZAH. In the time since the artist shared the artwork, more than 17.6K users have liked the art. Among the comments, gamers praised the retro look of the design. In particular, one fan, known as AjthreetJ on Twitter, said they liked that the artist chose to have Link and Zelda looking towards the horizon at sunset.

Interestingly, this title screen art based on Breath of the Wild came about due to a poll in which the artist asked members of the community to vote on which Zelda game was their favorite. For those interested, 1TZAH revealed they planned to make a wallpaper version. Specifically, they intended to bring it to Wallpaper Engine on Steam.

It is often exciting to see members of the gaming community create such incredible artwork based on their favorite games and series. In addition to this title screen art reimagining Breath of the Wild as a SNES game, other fans have been making creations based on the series. For example, another gamer created an animation inspired by The Legend of Zelda for a class at their university. As the release of Breath of the Wild 2 gets closer, it will be interesting to see if the hype encourages other fans to make even more incredible artwork based on the popular series.
