A devoted player manages to explore the entire map of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild while on a journey to fully complete all the game's content without the use of guides. One of the player's motivations for achieving 100% completion of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild includes the impending release of the highly-anticipated sequel.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most influential releases for the Nintendo Switch and served as the console's main launch title on March 3, 2017. Taking place at the end of the known Zelda timeline, Link is tasked with securing the Divine Beasts scattered across the vast kingdom of Hyrule, freeing the spirits of Champions, and defeating Ganon before the world is destroyed. In the process, Link regains his memories, reclaims the Master Sword once more, and meets new people willing to aid him in his quest. Breath of the Wild would become one of the most critically acclaimed entries in the series, and fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Reddit user u/Denso95 revealed that he's explored nearly all of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild after over four years of playing the game to almost 100% completion. Additionally, the user managed to complete all side quests, collect all 900 Korok Seeds, and obtain all memories without the use of a guide. The Sheikah Slate map is filled with tracks of the player's on-foot movements across all of Hyrule except for Hyrule Castle. The only task left for u/Denso95 would be to venture into Hyrule Castle and finally defeat Ganon to fully complete the game and all of its available content.

According to u/Denso95, one of the main motivations for continuing the journey toward 100% completion of Breath of the Wild was the announcement of Tears of the Kingdom. The game's initial announcement and subsequent release date reveal encouraged u/Denso95 to make a final push toward completing all the game's content without using guides. u/Denso95 appears to have completed the game just two months away from Tears of the Kingdom's May 12 release date.

Achieving 100% completion of Breath of the Wild without help from guides is an incredible feat. Hyrule is extremely vast in Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom is expected to greatly build upon its foundation. Tears of the Kingdom players could potentially explore Hyrule for years before fully completing the game.

Tears of the Kingdom may revisit story ideas since the sequel seemingly takes place directly after the events of Breath of the Wild. Players may need to venture back into familiar territory from Breath of the Wild while making use of new abilities given to Link in his newest adventure on Nintendo Switch, but until then, they can go back and reach 100% in Breath of the Wild like u/Denso95.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Nintendo Switch.
