The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has everyone talking about Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganon once again, and the game that everyone believed could be one of the best Nintendo titles ever made is actually coming through on the hype. It's too early to tell, of course, whether or not Breath of the Wild will cement its place in the upper echelons of gaming history, but the early response to the game is one that makes it easy to believe that will be the way the title is remembered in the future.

With that popularity has come a bevy of questions regarding the fine print of Breath of the Wild's open world concept, whether that be the obvious question of where to find the Master Sword in Breath of the Wild or something more innocuous like where to find warm clothes for Link.

That comes with the territory when a game series that has been largely clear about how players should proceed suddenly thrusts its fans into a world where players can do pretty much anything they want to right from the start. Rather than spend that time translating the mysterious language in Breath of the Wild, however, Game ZXC has put together a guide to help players acquire one of the most powerful armor sets in the game - the Ancient Armor.

Warning: potential spoilers ahead.

Prepare for Purchase

The Ancient Armor isn't like other purchasable sets of gear in Breath of the Wild, and players are going to need to pick up extra resources other than rupees in order to buy it. Each piece of Ancient Armor requires 20 Ancient Gears, 5 Ancient Shafts, and 3 Ancient Cores, and the armor set features 3 pieces.

While these components are relatively commonplace in Hyrule, the problem is they pretty much only drop from Guardians - meaning that, to get the armor that is most proficient against that enemy type, gamers will first have to defeat a few of them to do so.

Head to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab

The lab, which is in the far north of the Eastern Akkala region of Hyrule, isn't particularly hard to get to. Once players are there, the vendor there will simply offer them the opportunity to buy the Ancient Armor without much fuss.

For those who are interested, the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab also offers ancient arrows, which can take down Guardians in one hit if Link manages to hit them in the eye. These arrows might be worth picking up before attempting to collect the components for the Ancient Armor, then, as it can certainly speed up the process in taking Guardians down.

Why Ancient Armor?

Of course, some gamers might be wondering why the Ancient Armor is worth all the effort. The Ancient Armor, with upgrades, is statistically tied as one of the strongest armor sets in the game, and when the full set is equipped players will also receive a buff that increases the damage they deal with ancient-type weapons.

The biggest draw, however, is the Guardian Resist ability that each piece of Ancient Armor has, reducing the damage that guardian blasts deal to Link. With a full set equipped, Link can actually tank a few direct hits from the guardian blasts, making combat with the hulking ancient entities much easier.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a great game, and those looking to explore its massive open world should do so with the best armor available. It might seem like a lot of effort, but it is well worth it - and, as an added bonus, Link looks pretty cool rocking the Ancient Armor set as well.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Switch and Wii U.
