As The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild approaches it's fourth anniversary this year, players are continuing to push the game to its limits with incredible feats of skill, and maybe a hint of luck. In this vein, one players has taken it upon themselves to land a 1,400 meter shot, almost 4,600 feet for non-metric readers, with pinpoint precision using Breath of the Wild's bow.

The player had to use a combination of skill, in-game knowledge, and an exploit in order to pull off the shot that instantly killed a Guardian Stalker. Granted, taking out one of the strongest enemies in Breath of the Wild with a single shot is already an impressive feat on it's own, even without the extreme distance.

In order to pull off this kind of trick shot in Breath of the Wild, Twitter user @smaho_neko had to not only aim the arc of the arrow to land where they were trying to send it, but chase the shot the whole way. This meant using a popular exploit used for speedrunning where Link rides his shield onto an enemy's head and it sends him flying through the air and can be directed with a paraglider. Using that, the player was able to follow an ancient arrow that was shot from the top of Temple of Time to a Guardian Stalker that was destroyed from the single shot.

An additional wrinkle of this trick shot is in a little detail about Breath of the Wild's Guardians, where hitting one with an ancient arrow doesn't usually kill it in one hit. It actually requires a direct shot into the small glowing eye of in the center of the enemy's head that will let an ancient arrow land a one-hit kill on a Guardian Stalker. This means that not only did the shot require the player to track an arrow for almost an entire mile across the map to make sure that the enemy loaded, it also had to hit a precision point to land the kill.

This shot also isn't the only one that @smaho_neko has landed on a guardian from a distance, using different types of exploits to follow the shot. However, that doesn't mean that it was an exploit that landed the shot in the first place, as the player still had to angle and land the shot manually based on previous knowledge of where the enemy would spawn. It's an incredible feat of skill and persistence that just goes to show how dedicated the Breath of the Wild content creation community still is to a four year old game.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Switch.
