Legend of Zelda fans may want to pre-order any Zelda amiibos they're missing as massive restocks were seen in one part of the world. With the use of these small figurines in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it's not hard to connect that they may once again be of use in the upcoming sequel Tears of the Kingdom, which will be released on May 12, 2023.
Players of Legend of Zelda:Breath of the Wild may remember that amiibos provided various in-game bonuses to those who scanned them. While non-Zelda figures could be scanned to gain bonuses, some Zelda-themed ones yielded unique results such as Majora's Mask Link or the Skyward Sword Link—which gave the user unique sets of armor to equip.
As spotted by Nintendo Wire, the website for French retailer Fnac has a massive listing of pre-orders for a majority of Zelda amiibos. According to the site, most figures will see their re-release in France on February 3. Restocks will include the likes of Majora's Mask Link, Wolf Link, Archer Link, and Wind Waker Link, just to name a few. This has led to speculation that the sequel will be utilizing these toys to some extent. Interestingly enough, no mention of the most recent Zelda and Loftwing amiibo from Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD has been spotted.
While these findings are currently limited to France, the expectation is that a global announcement will soon detail the functions of these amiibos in the game world—which could then lead to a global restocking thereafter. Seeing as Tears of the Kingdom is the official sequel to Breath of the Wild, fans could expect to see similar (if not updated) in-game bonuses being awarded for scanning some of the older figures in the franchise.
A lot of collectors have found value in the toy line as they use it across all games in the franchise—with a majority of the Link amiibos providing excellent armor and weapons once scanned in-game. One fan-favorite is the Wolf Link figure which grants the user the ability to summon Wolf Link as a companion in Breath of the Wild—a unique mechanic only achieved by owning and scanning the said toy. As such, no announcements for any new amiibos to launch with Tears of the Kingdom exist yet so expect that the older figurines will have a lot of movement in stores.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be available on May 12, 2023, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
