These drops were announced in addition to the upcoming release of the new Tears of the Kingdom Link amiibo, which will release alongside the game.Amiibo began with the Super Smash Bros. line of figures in 2014, and new amiibo have regularly been released in conjunction with first-party Nintendo releases. News of these reprints was shared by the gaming Twitter account Wario64. The Link amiibo, which are based on his appearance in Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess, are available for online pre-orders at Best Buy and GameStop, respectively. They are set to release on May 12, the same day that Tears of the Kingdom releases. The Ocarina of Time Link amiibo is currently available to purchase from Amazon.

This will give fans the chance to pick up Zelda amiibo that can be used in Tears of the Kingdom to unlock special gliders. The official Zelda website also lists the Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, and Wolf Link amiibo as being compatible with Tears of the Kingdom, although it is not mentioned how they will function when scanned in-game. It is unclear whether these figures will also be restocked in the near future, but they can still be found through secondhand sellers.

This news seems to show a pattern with amiibo rereleases following the Mario amiibo restock that happened last month. That reprint happened shortly before Mar10 Day and roughly a month before the U.S. premiere of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. With this resupply of Zelda amiibo coming just before the Tears of the Kingdom's launch, collectors will hopefully be able to more accurately predict when future amiibo drops will happen.
