It looks like Zack Snyder's Justice League was worth fighting for after all. The fan-driven film, which saw the director's original vision come to life, ended up outperforming its predecessor by leaps and bounds, with most reviews giving it significantly improved scores in both the critic and audience categories. Fans of the franchise, in particular, were so pleased with Snyder's interpretation that they've even started a campaign to restore the Snyderverse in full.

Despite a four-hour runtime, many viewers still craved to see more after the Snyder Cut of Justice League. While Snyder wasn't able to fit everything he wanted to in the final cut, he still made sure to share some never-before-seen outtakes with fans online. Most recently, he took to Twitter to post a scene with Jared Leto's Joker that was shown in the trailer but ultimately didn't make it in the film.

The short clip is essentially an alternate edit of the Knightmare epilogue, where Ben Affleck's Batman had a tense exchange of words with the Joker. The scene is particularly memorable for the Joker's "we live in a society" line, which has gone viral on social media via memes and fan art. He delivers the line after Batman brings up Harley Quinn's dying wish to kill the clown, which was seemingly an attempt to get under his skin.

While the deleted Justice League scene doesn't stray too far from the original version, there is one slight difference in Joker's lines, particularly when he talks about the deaths of Robin and Lois Lane. In true Joker fashion, he asks Batman who he thinks screamed louder between the two, making their conversation a whole lot darker.

Such details seem to tease a multiverse storyline for a possible future Snyderverse entry — the Lois Lane reference ties back to apocalyptic visions that Batman has been having ever since Batman v Superman when Ezra Miller's Flash visited him from the future and told him that Lois Lane is "the key." For now, it simply offers a what-could-have-been scenario if things had gone differently in the Justice League's mission.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Snyder revealed that his film was intended to be part of a trilogy, with two more Justice League films penciled in the future line-up. With his current status at Warner Bros., he thinks it's unlikely he'll tell those Justice League stories; however, he also said there's always a chance it could still happen. "I didn't think I'd be here talking about [a redone] Justice League, so never say never," he added. Hopefully, Snyder gets the chance to continue working on his Justice League trilogy, as it would be interesting to see what he had in mind for that alternate reality.

Zack Snyder's Justice League is now streaming on HBO Max.
