Using 3D models, a fan created a short video of Superman and Darkseid facing off after the events of Zack Snyder's Justice League. Warner Bros. Discovery changed course with James Gunn helming the new DCU, leaving the tease of future storylines on the cutting room floor, such as Darkseid's invasion, the Knightmare timeline, and a subplot detailing Deathstroke's pursuit of Batman after learning his identity courtesy of Lex Luthor.

Even with DC Studios CO-Head James Gunn scheduled to announce his DCU plans sometime in January, it has not stopped fans from wondering what could have been following Zack Snyder's Justice League in what was supposed to be two more Justice League films. The events of that were supposed to follow Justice League were foreshadowed in bits and pieces in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Zack Snyder's Justice League. Snyder's DC era was short-lived, but that has not stopped dedicated fans from campaigning for the SnyderVerse to continue at Netflix. But while some fans campaign, others show their desire to see the SnyderVerse continue in other ways.

Instagram User MrVegaOfficial posted a video of Superman standing toe to toe with Darkseid in the Kryptonian ship used by Lex Luthor to create a Doomsday clone. Darkseid is seen in liquid gel form, similar to how Steppenwolf was shown communicating to Luthor at the end of Batman v Superman, or how Steppenwolf communicated with Darkseid's advisor Desaad in Zack Snyder's Justice League, meaning that Darkseid is not standing before Superman in the flesh. Snyder's version of Darkseid received approval from Jack Kirby's grandson, and with only around 3 minutes of screen time in the 4-hour epic, the antagonist makes his presence known.

It is unknown if this face-off had been canon to Snyder's original DCEU plans. However, it is interesting to think about Superman and Darkseid communicating with each other before the god-like entity and his army arrive on planet Earth. Either way, it is a fun reference to what could have been, as it would have been a spectacular battle between opposing forces.

The Instagram artist, known as MrVegaOfficial, also has other videos showcasing what could have been in Snyder's Justice League 2, such as the Knightmare timeline versions of Deathstroke and Flash preparing for battle, Superman visiting Batman in the Batcave, and the premonition from Zack Snyder's Justice League that reveals Superman succumbing to antilife, which is Darkseid's trump card in his invasion of Earth.

Zack Snyder's Justice League is now available on HBO Max.
