Conversations that circulated over the past few weeks have had DC fans worried about the future of Henry Cavill's Superman. Thanks to Zack Snyder, fans now have hope that Cavill will wear the cape again in the future.

Some of these conversations that have been circulating online have been regarding whether Cavill, who is 39-years old, is too old to play the Man of Steel. The theory began online when YouTuber/blogger Matt Jarbo theorized that since Cavill hasn’t put on the Superman suit in about five years, Warner Bros. would most likely want a younger actor and less pricey actor to star in a Superman reboot.

After this theory ran wild online, fans began to worry that Cavill would most likely not be returning to reprise his role. However, a post by Snyder for Superman Day has given Clark Kent fans some major hope that Cavill will fly on the big screen again one day. The post made by Snyder on Vero was a heartfelt ode to Superman and Cavill, with Snyder calling the actor his “future” Superman. This has DC fans thinking that Cavill will be coming back to the DC universe, but nothing official has been announced one way or the other.

The DC universe has undergone many major changes over the past few years. The Warner Bros. Discovery merger has resulted in the cancellation of many tv series that focused on DC comic characters, and even some upcoming films like The Wonder Twins got axed before production could even begin. Reportedly, the Warner Bros. Discovery leadership is seeking a new leader to oversee DC Films in the same way Kevin Feige has spearheaded the MCU at Marvel Studios.

With The Flash (played by Ezra Miller) film hitting theaters next year and Ben Affleck confirmed to appear as Batman, there is a great possibility that Cavill will make an appearance in the film as well. This would definitely help the film's success when it hits the big screen, due to all the legal hysteria surrounding Miller and the calls to recast The Flash with a different actor.

Snyder’s post, although not a concrete confirmation, definitely gives a greater look into the future for the Son of Krypton. Age is only a number, and there’s a great chance that Cavill will return to reprise his role as Superman on the big screen soon or reveal that he’s planning to hang up the iconic cape.

Superman films are available to stream on HBO Max.
