In recent years, YouTube has grown into one of the most popular platforms for many forms of media – particularly video gaming. From game reviews and teasers, to running commentaries and Let's Play videos, YouTube has grown into a far-reaching – and profitable – game watching platform. With video game YouTube videos becoming ever more popular, the site compiles a list of the top trending games every month, and has just released the most recent list for April.

While YouTube didn't reveal any viewership data, the clear winner during last month was From Software's Dark Souls 3, which was released on April 12. This isn't too surprising given the game's rave reviews, and all the sales records that have tumbled under Dark Souls 3's might. Due to the game's earlier Japanese March release, Dark Souls 3 had actually made the top five in YouTube's March list, and this marks the second month in a row in which the game has made the top 10.

Coming in behind Dark Souls 3 was Remedy Entertainment's generally well-received Quantum Break. Despite the long wait and a number of technical issues, Quantum Break quickly became Microsoft Studio's best selling new IP for this generation, and it appears that that game's time-bending mechanics and gorgeous visuals struck a chord with the gaming community.

In an unexpected surprise, Dodge Roll's indie title, Enter the Gungeon, managed to slip in behind Dark Souls 3 and Quantum Break at number three. Despite being released at roughly the same time as Dark Souls 3, Enter the Gungeon was a critics darling, and the game's bullet hell/roguelike mash-up gameplay definitely caught a good portion of the attention.

Interestingly, three spots were occupied by games that haven't been released yet: Gears of War 4, DOOM, and Overwatch. This can be attributed to the fact that each title recently held multiplayer beta tests, all of which were generally quite well-received by the public. Given that DOOM is a week from launch, and Overwatch will be released towards the end of May, we can probably expect both games to rise up the ranks for YouTube's list next month.
