You is getting ready to drop something new for fans. No, this isn't about a new identity for Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) - though that's in the cards as well - it appears that this season of You will be promoted with weekly content drops throughout November and December and even into the New Year.
Netflix's You is a psychological thriller centering on the mind of Joe Goldberg. Goldberg routinely falls in love with women, proclaims them to be the love of his life, and begins stalking them to "better" their lives. Unsurprisingly, the objects of his affection are treated as just that - objects. Joe does not view the women he stalks as human, and the series employs satire to explore how modern standards of romance can be seriously unhealthy.
The official You Twitter caused a bit of an uproar when it tweeted out, "Mark your calendar. Professor Jonathan Moore looks forward to seeing you this semester." The post was accompanied by a video announcing 8 dates, roughly a week apart. Fans took this to mean that You season 4 would be released on a weekly basis, rather than in the traditional binge-watching format that Netflix is accustomed to.
The You season 4 trailer previously debuted at TUDUM and revealed the season would be split into two parts, with the first part dropping on February 10, 2023, while the second part would drop on March 10, 2023. Because of that, the recent video tweeted out by the You account confused some fans, who wondered if the season would now be released weekly and if it would be arriving sooner to the service than anticipated. In response to this, the You account had to tweet out, "Class is still in session in 2023. These new dates are your syllabus for Season 4 sneak peeks."
So fans will have to wait for the original release date to see You season 4. On the other hand, they have these sneak peeks to look forward to. What these sneak peeks entail is unknown, but they may reveal more details about what Joe has been up to since season 3.
Despite reports that Netflix was considering dropping the binge model, the streamer has stated that its projects will continue to release under its all-at-once model. Though several services have been experimenting with releasing episodes weekly or in smaller clusters, Netflix appears to be committed to the viewing model it helped pioneer. That viewing model has previously come under criticism, with many saying that it keeps discussion and relevance at a minimum.
You season 4 drops its first part on Netflix on February 10, 2023, and part 2 drops on March 10, 2023.
