X-Men is returning, but not all characters are up for the Marvel Studios reboot because it will reportedly be female-focused without the powerful mutant supervillain Magneto.

There have been over a dozen X-Men movies since the first film was released in 2000. The last film, The New Mutants, hit theaters in 2020. For three years, fans have been waiting for another film from the mutant superheroes, and one is reportedly in the works, but it will have a new supervillain. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reportedly wants the next X-Men movie to be different and may present a new villain.

Insider Daniel Richtman claimed that the upcoming X-Men MCU reboot will focus more on the team's female members. The script hasn't been written yet, but the executives have already begun meeting with the writers to hear pitches on bringing the mutant superheroes back. Among the major changes would be the villain, as the mutant master of magnetism, Magneto, would reportedly be swapped with a new face. According to rumors, the new antihero would be Mister Sinister.

However, it is still too early for such details. Additionally, nothing is set in stone, and whatever fans hear today may be subject to change once the script begins to take shape. Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed details about a new X-Men movie, but the anticipated announcement is expected to be made in early 2024.

Marvel Studios may be working behind the scenes to give a concrete update once they officially announce the anticipated superhero movie. Also, Feige has seemingly addressed the future of X-Men when he walked the red carpet for The Marvels premiere in Las Vegas. There are various speculations on how Marvel Studios would weave X-Men into the MCU after Disney acquired most of Fox's film and TV assets, and he teased the arrival of the mutants to the MCU by saying fans would see the live-action mutants, "Perhaps soon." Fans were then treated to The Marvels' post-credits scene featuring Kelsey Grammer's Beast.

As for the villainous Mister Sinister, there is no doubt that he would add a new spin to the franchise. Mister Sinister and Magneto are among the popular villains in X-Men, with some fans even comparing who is more powerful. There is a mixed opinion, with some siding with Max Eisenhardt, who can control magnets, and others rooting for Mister Sinister, who wasn't born mutant but endowed with superhuman intelligence with expertise in genetic manipulation. Mister Sinister has been a thorn for X-Men in the comics since 1987. He manipulated the gene pool of the Summers family for generations, in particular Scott Summers (Cyclops) and his brother Alex (Havok). He also cloned Jean Grey following her death and created her doppelgänger Madelyne Pryor, whom he arranged to meet Scott. Madelyne and Scott fell in love, married, and became parents to Cable, a mutant mercenary. Mister Sinister is cunning and a master manipulator. He is as bad or worse as his name. So, if rumors are true that he is replacing Magneto as the villain in the upcoming X-Men reboot, it would be exciting.
