Xenoblade Chronicles 3 can be intimidating for anyone new to the series or JRPGs. Not only is the open world vastly bigger than in previous Xenoblade games, but there are many systems and battle mechanics to learn and get used to. And because of these mechanics, players will find that the UI might not be the most user-friendly. There are icons all over the place signifying all sorts of different things.
There are meters for health, six (or more) party members to look out for, and multiple types of attacks to pull off, and that's not even all of it. All of that going on at once during a tough battle can be difficult to deal with. And for those who would like to grasp every icon on the screen, this guide will go over what the red skull icon in the top-right corner means in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
What is the Red Skull Icon in Xenoblade Chronicles 3?
When Xenoblade Chronicles 3 players enter any combat scenario, they'll see lines appearing out of the enemy that connects with the party. This means that the monster is engaged and is currently part of an ongoing battle.
The red skull icon with horns in the top-right corner of the screen will appear during fights, and the number that shows up signifies how many enemies are currently in the battle. This gives players an idea of how many monsters they're fighting, just in case they aren't aware of their surroundings.
Sometimes players encounter one enemy, only to be attacked by another from behind or from the side. Keep an eye on the number next to the skull to always know what's going on at any given moment in combat situations. It could mean the difference between life and death.
And, at any moment, if players are worried about facing an over-powered enemy, they can always attempt to escape battles by simply sheathing their weapon and running away or holding the Minus button.
The red skull icon will only appear during battles and not during exploration or while in colonies or other villages.
