In addition to the standard currency used to buy accessories and more in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, there are gold and silver Nopon Coins. A returning mechanic from Xenoblade Chronicles, the Nopon Coins are a unique form of currency in the game earned by completing particular tasks or finding them on the field while exploring.
At first, it's not quite clear what the coins are used for in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, especially as it is quite easy to miss the requirements of all the systems and intricacies at play in the game. Players will start obtaining Nopon Coins from the first chapter, but their value and uses vary.
Nopon Coins Uses In Xenoblade Chronicles 3
There are gold and silver coins to obtain in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. They can be used to complete Collectopaedia Cards, cook recipes, craft gems without the necessary materials, or for quests.
One can even increase a character's rank without fighting. While silver coins are more commonplace in Xenoblade 3's world, the gold coins are more valuable and a little harder to come by. Gold Nopon Coins will be needed to craft the higher-level gems in Xenoblade 3.
The Nopon Coin X-Change
In Chapter 4, players will have access to the Nopon Coin X-Change Merchant. The merchant is found in the Fornis Region, near the landmark Raptor's Perch. This merchant trades a lot of rare and unique accessories and items for gold and silver Nopon coins.
How To Get Nopon Coins
Finding Yellow Containers
In chapter one, players will notice that they can collect Nopon Coins from the yellow containers found all over the open-world in Xenoblade 3. These containers are generally found all over the map and are highlighted by a yellow container marker on the minimap.
In addition, they can be found in hidden places inside the Colonies of Xenoblade 3. As a result, it's always worth exploring every corner or out of reach spots. It's usually the hidden containers that have the best rewards in Nopon Coins.
Completing Quests
Completing Xenoblade 3's main and side quests will often reward the party with Nopon Coins al, EXPnd other useful items in the game.
Certain quests will only become available at night, so it's always a good idea to play around with Xenoblade Chronicles 3's Time Skip mechanic when inside Colonies. Moreoever, some side quests will only become available after completing the main quests first.
Skrimishes
The Skirmishes on the field are self contained fights in Xenoblade 3 highlighted by a Red Marker where the party can choose to intervene and pick a side. These mini events are usually two groups of monsters fighting each other.
The player needs to pick a side, preferably the one that reaps the most rewards. The rewards are random as they could be Gold, EXP, and Affinity bonus points, but occasionally, one choice will offer Nopon Coins as Victory Spoils.
Ferronus Hulks
On the field, the party will encounter derelict buildings called Ferronis Hulks. These machine-like stations need to be rebooted using the Ether that the party has gathered up on their travels.
Once the power has returned, the party in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 can access Hulk's containers. Many of these containers will have Nopon Coins along with other various rewards.
Defeating Unique Monsters
There are a variety of powerful and Unique Monsters in Xenoblade 3. They differ from Elite Monsters as Xenoblade 3's Uniques are stronger, more difficult and usually have better rewards like Nopon Coins.
In addition, these Unique Monsters will leave behind a Named Grave site and a Fast Travel marker on the map. Pressing A at the gravesite of the Unique Monster will trigger the battle again.
This is a great way to earn more EXP and other rewards. If the battles are wiping out the party every time, don't hesitate to lower the difficulty in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
