Over the last few days since its announcement, the trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has been picked over by fans who have analyzed the trailer to try and learn what is happening in its world. Now, Nintendo of Europe is also giving gamers more information on a couple of characters that players will be able to see on their journey through Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

During the Nintendo Direct a few days ago, Nintendo officially announced Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Rumors swirled around the end of summer that the game was in development, after the voice actor for Xenobalde Chronicles character Melia hinted at the game's development in an interview.

In a series of tweets, Nintendo of Europe highlighted two characters: its dual protagonists Noah and Mio. Noah is the character first seen at the start of the trailer, and is the wielder of a red sword that other Xenoblade Chronicles protagonists like Shulk and Rex use. He's a soldier of the country of Keves, and is called an "off-seer," a person who mourns the lives of those who have lost their lives in battle. Mio is the Gormotti girl that was dual-wielding chakram-like weapons in the trailer, similar to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 character Nia. She's from the nation of Agnus and is also an "off-seer," and is seen both fighting Noah and playing the flute alongside him partway through the trailer.

The coming days should see more information coming out on the rest of the cast of characters. This is the first bit of information that Nintendo has given out about the characters that players will be able to control during their time in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

As the final game in what may be a trilogy for the series, some character designs look similar to other characters seen in past entries. Characters that resemble both Xenoblade Chronicles character Melia and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 character Nia were spotted in the game's announcement trailer. It is unclear if these characters are descendants of these characters or perhaps even those characters themselves in this sequel.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has a big legacy to live up to, but it already has the series' standout elements in place already just based off the opening trailer: the breathtaking environments, and the amazing music. There's lots of time to go until the game's projected fall release, so Nintendo has plenty more to showcase about its signature open-world RPG.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 launches in September 2022 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
