In Xenoblade Chronicles 2 the Blades a player has access to are mainly dependent on random chance and the number of Core Crystals the player has access to. While there are ways to influence the odds in favor of certain elements and higher rarities, the single best way to increase the odds of getting a Rare Blade is by using a Legendary Core Crystal.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has plenty of ways for players to acquire the aforementioned Legendary Core Crystals, and this guide will cover some of the most effective and reliable means of acquiring Legendary Core Crystals.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Landscape

This strategy will need players to reach at least level 80 for best results (85 ideally, but it'll work fine at 80) and finish helping Pekka in Torigoth. Pekka asks players to help them feed a young Ardun that can be found nearby, and if players kill it before finishing feeding it the Ardun will never respawn.

When the Ardun is fully fed, which requires quite a few items but shouldn't be too difficult at this level, it becomes the Relentless Arduran. This Level 99 Unique Monster can be refought indefinitely and has an excellent drop rate for Legendary Core Crystals. For better efficiency players should build a team that can perform a full Driver Combo on the Arduran, since the Smash at the end of the combo drops loot as if the monster was defeated, allowing extra chances for Core Crystals to drop.

Players should also equip the party with Gold Chip Weapons, which boost Drop Rate, and equip their preferred Poppi form with Treasure Sensor V to boost it even higher. If Adenine has been acquired, her Treasure Wisdom battle skill is also an excellent bonus here, so maxing it out is a good call. With Gold Chips, Treasure Sensor or Treasure Wisdom, and full Driver Combos, it shouldn't be too hard to get a ton of Legendary Core Crystals this way.

New Game+

Xenoblade 2 Rex Shock

In New Game+ the Relentless Arduran is still an excellent option, but players able to grind a ton of EXP gain access to an additional method in NG+ that makes use of any excess Bonus EXP they've acquired. By speaking to the Travelling Bard in Fonsa Myma players can exchange 100,000 Bonus EXP for a Legendary Core Crystal, and this trade can be repeated as many times as needed to acquire extra Legendary Core Crystals.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
