The upcoming Switch role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a mere two months away and Nintendo is readying for its release. The game's special edition is available for pre-order today, as well as a limited edition Switch Pro Controller that is also up for sale.

The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 special edition comes with a copy of the game, a 220 page art book, a sound selection CD featuring various music tracks, and a metal game case. It's priced at $99 and will release alongside standard copies on December 1.

Additionally, a limited edition Switch Pro Controller is also available. It's color and theming is inspired by the game, with the recognizable cross design from the series present. The controller is priced at $74.99, which is just a little less than the special edition of the game, for perspective.

Nintendo pulled the curtain back on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 during the 2017 Nintendo Switch presentation at the start of the year. The announcement came with a short reveal trailer that previewed some of the characters, and locations players would be able to explore. The trailer also included snippets of dialogue that hinted at the game's story. The reveal came as a surprise, but a welcome one, considering the popularity of the original game.

The first Xenoblade Chronicles was a well-liked title for the Nintendo Wii that garnered a decent following. When it was released back in 2012, the reviews for the game were very positive. Even though its fanbase isn't as large as other acclaimed role-playing titles like Final Fantasy 7, the game is still often hailed as one of the best in the genre. We at Game ZXC even honored it as one of the 10 greatest JRPGs ever.

It's unclear how Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will measure up to the original, but anxious fans will get their answers shortly. Those looking forward to the title can preorder any of the available editions today. The really gung ho who are planning on ordering the special edition should do it soon, as those have a tendency to sell out.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 releases exclusively for Nintendo Switch on December 1, 2017.
