A new leak for the popular FPS XDefiant reveals new factions and Ubisoft characters that are coming to the game in Season 1 and later. Ubisoft's newest free-to-play shooter, XDefiant, has certainly been a hit with players, especially those longing for the classic Call of Duty multiplayer experience. XDefiant seemingly returns the genre to the older days of the arena shooter, stripping away many of the complexities and bloated features that have made their way into recent entries of Activision's popular Call of Duty multiplayer modes.

As a free-to-play, live-service style game, Ubisoft has plans to keep XDefiant feeling fresh by periodically introducing new content alongside various updates. As players know, XDefiant launched into the preseason, letting players experience the game and its mechanics, while also adjusting mechanics and fixing issues before the arrival of Season 1. With Season 1 set to arrive in July, it appears that Ubisoft has tons of new content planned for the future, and with these latest leaks, players have plenty to be excited about.

XDefiant is Getting a Far Cry-Inspired Map

XDefiant is adding a new Far Cry-inspired map, featuring vibrant colors and dynamic environments, further enhancing the gameplay experience.

According to a user known as Rogue TX, XDefiant will be adding a variety of new factions to its current roster starting in Season 1 and beyond, some of which are not connected to Ubisoft's Clancyverse. While datamining the game's files, Rogue TX has discovered a veritable treasure trove of information, including potential new weapons like the FAMAS, sawed-off shotgun, Tommy Gun, and more. There have also been found assets of characters based on the racing game The Crew as well as the Rabbids franchise. It's unknown how the cartoon creatures will be integrated into a realistic-looking shooter game like XDefiant.

  • GSG9 - Blitz, IQ, Jaeger, or Bandit (Rainbow Six Siege)

In addition to new factions like The Highwaymen and Assassins, XDefiant is set to get new game modes, some of which have been confirmed by Mark Rubin. A Search and Destroy style mode called 1-Life Bomb is being worked on, though Rogue TX has found hints in the game files of even more on the way. According to data files, traditional multiplayer modes like Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag are being planned for the future, while Infection could also appear in an update down the road. Currently, players have a variety of objective-based modes to play through, so a classic TDM activity could be a welcome addition.

While players should take all of this with a grain of salt, Ubisoft may have accidentally lent some truth to them as the company has issued DMCA strikes to remove some of the images and details from social media. Either way, it's highly likely that fans won't have to wait too much longer for news as Ubisoft Forward makes its 2024 on June 10. As expected, Ubisoft is using this summer showcase to reveal new details, gameplay, and other surprises for its upcoming games, of which XDefiant should be part of with Season 1 right around the corner.
