XDefiant is a fast-paced, high-action first-person shooter that is free-to-play and a blast to experience. The game features many mechanics present in other shooters, along with various Factions that players can choose from in order to use a wide range of abilities. Though initially boasting a fairly rocky launch, players can now dive into the game and battle it out against their opponents.

The movement in XDefiant is relatively simple and straightforward, allowing player's skills to seamlessly transfer over from other popular games. One such movement action players may be familiar with is sliding, which can be performed by pressing the crouch button while sprinting. Players can also perform a Slide Cancel using a particular strategy.

How To Slide Cancel In XDefiant

When players slide for the first time, they may find that the slide lasts longer than they'd like. While sliding is a useful technique for boosting your performance and lowering your profile while moving, it is predictable and relatively easy for enemies to track. This is where Slide Canceling comes in -- a movement technique used to make players move faster and more unpredictably.

There are two main methods players can use to cancel their slides. The first is to simply aim down sights while the slide is in progress. Doing so will cancel the slide animation and stop you dead in your tracks. This can be useful for immediately locking onto a target who engages you during a slide.

The second, and arguably better way to Slide Cancel, is to jump immediately after sliding. Players will carry their momentum from sliding into the jump, and chaining multiple slide jumps this way can throw off an opponent's aim -- along with allowing you to go right back into a sprint much faster.

Players can change the controls for their Crouch/Slide and Jump actions in XDefiant by heading to the Mouse & Keyboard or Controller tabs within the Settings. For Mouse & Keyboard, players can change the bindings for individual actions, whereas Controller players can choose between several different Button Layout Presets.
