Since the consoles initial unveiling at The Game Awards, Microsoft has slowly peeled back the layers of the console, over the course of the last year details have come out regarding the specs of the console, including the highly touted Smart Delivery, Which enables players to only have to purchase one copy of a supported game playable for both Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Last week, Microsoft showcased some of the Xbox Series X lineup, including Halo Infinite, which itself is seeing a big change with a focus on open world game play. Despite several events surrounding the console, important details such as price, bundles, and the release date have yet to be revealed. The Xbox Series X is expected to release this fall which only leaves a few short months for Microsoft to go over what is arguably the most important details of the console.

Microsoft isn't alone in this either. Sony, despite having its own unveiling of the PlayStation 5, has yet to reveal the same details about the next iteration of the PlayStation. Both companies have been drip feeding fans details on the road to release in hopes of capitalizing on each others mistakes. Including the possibility of undercutting price.

With Covid-19 hampering marketing plans, both companies have had to juggle around planned announcements including how info on both upcoming consoles is delivered. What would typically be shown at at press conference among press and fans alike is now relegated to highly produced videos with employees working from home. As the road to launch for both consoles approaches, it will be interesting to see how Microsoft reacts given that Sony is increasing the expected shipment amounts of the PlayStation 5.

The Xbox Series X is expected to launch in the fall of 2020.
