As the year moves closer to the holiday launch window of the next gen-consoles, the day-one launch lineups for the Xbox One Series X and the PS5 are slowly taking shape. And now one more title is going to be available for those who pick up an Xbox Series X on launch day: Haven, the next title from the minds behind the well-received Furi.

Whereas Furi was more of a bullet-hell/hack-and-slash game, Haven is instead a co-op RPG centered around a sci-fi romance between its two protagonists, Yu and Kay. Though Haven is an RPG, the game will not feature dense menus or questlogs, in order to allow players to pay more attention to Yu and Kay and their relationship as they traverse a lost planet and discover its secrets. And while the games center element is that it is a co-op love story, those who don’t have a special someone to share it with can play the whole game solo as well.

The game was already confirmed to be a part of Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One in its announcement trailer, but it is nice to know that an Xbox Series X-specific version is planned as well. It is also nice that it will be available to play on day one for “free” for those who sign up for Game Pass when they pick up a Xbox Series X.

PS5 Game Haven

Developer Game Bakers had already confirmed that Haven will be making its way to PS5, with the hope that the game will be able to run at 120 FPS on PS5 to ensure the gliding ability the characters possess feels even more smooth. If Game Bakers can get Haven to run at 120 FPS on PS5, then the game can most certainly achieve the same framerate on the equally powerful if not more powerful Xbox Series X.

It is important that Microsoft continues to grow its list of over 100 games promised at launch, in order to cover up for the loss of its most important system seller, Halo Infinite. Though Haven is also coming to the PS5, the title being “free” with Game Pass could still steer some people off the fence and into the Microsoft camp. Those interested in the console wars will have to see if Haven and these 100+ titles will be enough to compete with PS5’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and its other rumored day-one exclusive come launch.

Haven is set to launch in 2020 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and now Xbox Series X as well.
